So, after ripping open colorful packages, Exchanging titles you already have, trading in old games, and spending gift certificates, what did ya'll wind up with for your holiday gaming gifts?

For PS3, I got:
Dead Space
Mirror's Edge
Folklore

For PSP, I got:
Ygddra Union

For the DS, I got:
The World Ends With You
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia
Rhapsody: A musical adventure

I would like to have picked up a copy of Prince of Persia, but they didn't have a used copy, and I'd rather have gotten three games for the price of a newer one so I got Folklore, Castlevania and Rhapsody instead.

I'm totally set till spring comes. Smiley: laugh

Hey Nix you got Fallout 3 right? Did you have problems with the game crashing when you use V.A.T.S. to kill the first Radroach?

Prince of Persia is worth the cash, loving the game right now. I can see where some people wouldn't like it but so far I've found it enjoyable.

I bought them for myself, but part of the money was a gift, so it's only a partial gift. Anyway, I'm now the owner of the following:

X-Box 360 Pro
HDMI cable, because HD gaming is the only way to go.
Lego Indiana Jones (it came with the 360)
Kung Fu Panda (also came with the 360)
Assassin's Creed
Bioshock
Grand Theft Auto 4
Mercenaries 2: World in Flames

So far, I've bought:

Chrono Trigger
Dragon Quest IV
Mega Man 2 (wiishop)
Secret of Mana (Wiishop)
Tetris Party (wiiware)

I bought Dragon Quest IV for the DS. I found it very hard.

I reached the point where I was controlling a Princess and a couple of her guardians. I had to grind for hours outside the castle before I could do anything.

It is definitely not an RPG for anyone that isn't used to playing classic RPGs.

I got Bioshock for the PC only because in my opinion, shooters should only be attempted with a keyboard and mouse. I have found this to be especially true when I got the Orange Box and specifically, Portal. Watching some of the speed runs on Youtube make me realize that kind of accuracy is just not possible with a controller.

VIII for the PS2 was the same way, you can't just head out and take anything that comes along. I remember I was exploring and one of their NM's jumped me and pounded me into a puddle. Not what I was expecting Smiley: laugh

Worst part was I had to heal at the Inn after every random battle to start. And I could get into a random battle with 5 of these creatures, and they'd wipe me out. I basically had to reset if I got into that random battle and was still level 1.

So it was fight right outside of town, go back into town and heal, save. Fight right outside of town, go back into town, heal, save. Otherwise I'd waste 3 fights by getting into a bad random fight and losing.

I got FFIV and Chrono Trigger for DS, Fallout 3 for a 360 that I don't own (but will hopefully be getting in the next couple months Smiley: tongue), Spaceballs on DVD, and an iPhone (the big one). I also bought myself and my brother Bioshock for $5 each from Steam as early birthday presents (Jan. 7th), because as Wint said shooters should be played on a PC. Of course, I still have to finish HL2 first Smiley: motz.

Nothing. I received $55 in Best Buy gift cards. No idea what I'll use them for; most likely music.

I am still in the process of downloading a hopefully working version of FFIX for my PSP. I hate torrenting large files. Thankfully, this one comes from a trusted source.

Mother 3 is sitting on my PSP also, for some reason, I cannot get into it. I played Chrono Trigger (rom not new DS) over Christmas since I never beat the game. Unfortunately, both save files are corrupt, so yeah. Smiley: motz Think I'll download a new copy since the audio was a bit off.

Let's see...dang good christmas this year, with coordinated presents from family members :P

Ended up with:

Xbox 360 Pro (w/ Lego IJ and Kung Fu Panda)
Rock Band 2
Halo 3
Soul Calibur IV
Sid Meyer's Civilizations
Some tetris game, and the Banjo Kazooie one.

Non-gaming:
Car Stereo (my cd player's been broken forever)
New computer chair (broke mine a few weeks ago...the whole back of it fell off, so I've been playing on a stool :P)
And a really comfy heated blanket :D

Do you have FFIX already? It's really easy to make an eboot. I have made eboots for all of my PS1 games including all of the FF's. The only one that's tricky is the Chrono Cross one.

I got a kind of going away/christmas present from my work, which gave me $75 to spend on gaming goodness, but I ended up spending much more than that.

Bought myself Fallout 3 for PC, Proffesor Layton and the Curious Village and Trauma Center: Under the Knife for my DS, and also a USB Wireless connection for my DS (and future Wii) as my wireless router at homie has built-in WPA encyption that can't be disabled.

Yggdra Union is turning out to be a really solid game. My only qualm right now is that you have to fight through multiple battles between save points. This isn't always the case, but more often than not, it is.

For those of you who love to compare statistics, and stare at strategic maps for minutes at a time before making a move, this game is for you. They do a decent job of introducing more and more complicated elements of gameplay, but from what I'm reading, they don't explain EVERYTHING you need to know. Like, I didn't know how to heal morale in between battles until I just putzed around in the battle prep windows. Morale is basically your unit's hp, and if morale goes to zero, that unit is "dead." I haven't found out if death is permanent or not, and don't plan on finding out.

All in all, it's a really deep strategy RPG, the story is a little simple right now, but I'm not really playing this game for an epic story, I wanted a challenging SRPG, and that's just what I got.

My brother got me Fable 2 for Christmas. I believe that it's the first game I've ever played where you can buy condoms from the merchants. I've only played through the first level (child), but it looks promising.

I did get a bunch of cash, but I used it all to get a Kindle.

This is one of the two games i have from gamefly atm and i find it surprisingly fun considering it seems like such a kiddie game. The "dialog" is annoying imo, but the gameplay is pretty neat. gotta get MOAR PARTS!

I had to go to work over the holiday to shovel off the roof and got paid nicely for it. Told the misses i was gonna blow it cuz i worked my *** off for it and went and bought a PSP.

I have ratchet and clank that came with it (superb game, they never let me down) MLB 08: The Show and i just picked up Crisis Core today as well as a little grip thingy. http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=61713 Great purchase if i do say so myself.

I could never get FFIX to run on my PSP. I think it's because I'm a moron. The version I was in the process of downloading works great so far. I downloaded PSX to run it and found my old USB controller (looks exactly like a PS1 controller, no analog). Besides being a bit shifty in the graphics department @ fullscreen, runs like a charm.
