What game to get?Follow

So tomorrow, the girlfriend and I are going to brave the hordes of people at our local Worst Buy and purchase an Xbox 360 Pro. It comes with the toss in Lego and Kung Fu Panda games, but I'd like to grab another game on top of that. I've been trying to decide; Bioshock, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Halo 3, Gears of War, Fallout... I can't decide.

So, I ask you all, given that I'm only going to have enough money to get one game, which one should I buy? Doesn't have to be one in the list up there; if you think you have a better suggestion, I'm all ears.

A couple quick notes though: I have GTA4, FFXI, and Oblivion for PC, so don't suggest those three (GREAT games, but I'm not going to rebuy them for 360). Also, I'm not a fan of sports games in general (NFL Blitz being the sole exception to that rule) so sports games are out. I also do not plan to play games online... ever, so any game that might be suggested primarily because of the online play could probably ruled out too.

If there are any good locally multiplayer co-op games out there that my girlfriend and I can sit on the couch and play together, I'd like to hear about those. Other than that, I'd like a good game that is single player, preferably one that will keep me occupied and has replay value. I like RPG, RTS, FPS, puzzle, Action/Adventure/Platformer, etc... pretty much anything but sports like I said earlier :p

Thanks in advance for your time and suggestions. ^^

I can't think of any co-op games aside from army of two, but I don't play those types of games either.

Mass Effect and Tales of Vesperia probably have my longest hour commitment to the 360. I've done about 4 playthroughs on each of them. Mass Effect most likely appeals to more people. Ninja Gaiden 2 is a fantastic action game, but is not as good as NG black.

Mass effect was down to like 15 dollars used at gamestop also, and for what you get with it, you can't beat that price.

Co-Op wise:
A shooter is going to give you the most bang for your buck. Its just easier to do.

Halo 3 is my personal favorite (but opinions vary)
Gears of War 1 + 2 are also excellent.

The decision to not play any games on line kind of intrigues me...If its a cost issue I can completely understand, but if you simply don't enjoy doing it..I have to ask why :x

Left 4 Dead is a fun as hell as well, but pretty much only fun if you're playing Co-Op. Its got no story, and is just a mindless, fun as hell 4 person zombie shooter.

Single player games:
Mass Effect
Bioshock
Fallout 3
and Dead Space are all excellent

Halo and Gears can also be played single-player, but they don't last long and lose much of their charm.

If you think you'd like Assassin's Creed, I'd suggest you check out Prince of Persia instead (so far it just seems to be an overall better game, but I'm not too far in yet).

me and my brother have been playing army of two, its pretty good, and can be found for $20-$30 used.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance might be good too, havnt played the 360 version yet but the xbox one is fun, and the 360 one has a character pack you can get that adds some really good ones, havnt had a chance to try it out yet though.

I too just picked up the 360 Pro with Lego Jones/Panda so I'm in the same boat as you. If you have a Gamestop in your area, I highly suggest going for a visit. I went to one on the way to work the other day and picked up Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, and GTA 4 for $54.00 out of their used section. There are no scratches at all on the discs, it's like I bought them new. The only problem is that I now have to decide what to play first.

Of the games you listed I think Bioshock is the best. However this is coming from somebody who doesn't get into the on-line blow each other away multiplayer stuff. IF your into that you might want something else.

I thought Halo 3 was boring personally. I rented it thankfully and never bought it. Very overrated title IMO.

Just saw Mass Effect at Meijers for $24.00 new. I really want to get Fallout 3, but am waiting until I've got some things I need to save for.

I recommend a PSX emulator, or any other for that matter. You cannot lose with a library of thousands.

If you're looking for Co-op, say nuts to the 360, and grab a Wii.

You'll be glad you did.
