How can Entertainer craft their own props?Follow

#1 Dec 26 2008 at 8:56 AM Rating: Decent
I noticed that my Entertainer's datapad has many schematics for different props.
I purchased a Generic Crafting Tool from the bazaar, but didn't know how to get resources.
I tried purchasing resources but don't know what I need.
The tool tells me that I need metal, chemical, and reactive chemical, but you can't just buy these items as such. (that's not how they're labeled when you try to purchase resources, besides, resources are very expensive and entertainers don't make a lot of money -tips can be hard to come by)

I created another character as a Trader to try to understand the process but I find this to be a complicated (and boring) role to play. There isn't a lot of helpful info and resources are hard to obtain when you need a lot but can only sample a couple at-a-time.

I love the idea of my entertainer crafting her own props - any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

until you get the hang of it, you will probably be better off buying them from someone, either from another entertainer or from a private vendor, use the galaxy wide vendor search for whatever you need. metals fall into different categories, although i think for entertainer items it pretty much is, just 'any old' metal you have in sufficient amounts, i think anyone can use a survey tool, so the cheapest option - you dont need much after all, would be to survey/sample it. above all, have to recognise that entertainers are a social class - in combat even the drama specialised entertainer will struggle - if you really want to use a entertainer for combat, ignore drama, and concentrate on beastmaster, pets will do more damage than an entertainer is capable of, and you get healing... for your pet. downside of course is that you get 0 xp for killing things. just the pet as far as i know.

As has been mentioned metal, chemical and reactive chemical are generic classes, for example:
Metal can be Steel, Iron, Copper or Aluminum of any type or subclass.
Chemical is Lubricating Oil, Polymer etc.
Reactive chemical is one I haven't heard of before but sounds like some form of radioactive energy.

If it asks for Organic then any organic will do (Oats, wheat, fruit, etc.)

As there is no quality requirement for this you can buy the cheapest stuff available and you will still make a product as good as anyone else.

In terms of sampling your own raw materials I would suggest that you do two things (both of which are not fun)
1) Get the Surveyors Bracelet for the Chu Gon Gar cube as that will increase you surveying skill by 20 and help with finding higher concentrations of resources.

2) Get a pet and do the Resource Scavenging collection as that will give you a 50% increase in the amount of resources you sample.

Information about both of these items is available as swgwiki.com.

For the benefit of other Entertainers interested in crafting props.

This is what I have learned:

1. Purchase from Bazaar: Generic Crafting Tool, Mineral Surveying Tool, Chemical Surveying Tool

2. The Generic Crafting Tool will tell you what you need for each schematic.

3. Use the appropriate surveying tool to initially scan for resource.
Once found, use the /sample command to sample resources

4. After the first use of surveying tool, simply use the /survey command to scan for the last resource selected.

5. Organic resource can be obtained from killing ** small ** creatures (Entertainers aren't really meant for combat). Once creature is dead use the radial menu (~) and harvest food, hide, or bone (whatever you need)

6. You may also buy resources from Bazaar (if the price is right!)

7. Once all necessary resources are obtained, use the Crafting Tool to assemble the prop.

8. Choose schematic, resources available appear on left and the floating box will tell you in which category on the assembly side each one can go into.

9. Once all pieces are in place simply continue the process (assemble)

10. To actually make the product make sure that the "Practice" box is not checked.

11. be patient, it takes a few seconds, and you can only make one at a time.

Things to Keep in mind:

Go a little distance from the town but not too far off to scan for resources.
Entertainers don't do so well in combat - unless of course you can convince someone to come along with you and act as your bodyguard :-)

P.S.

If along your travels in the Ahazi galaxy you come across a beautiful Twi'lek named Sozosha Rewo, then know that she will be more than happy to offer her services.

Despite her level, she is still fairly new (she just happens to have learned of a thing called macros - and used them to be able to offer a full range of services)

She may not know which one is the 'armor' buff but will do her best to accommodate you.
Her buffs last a long time.
Her services are offered free but greatly appreciates receiving a /tip
As you browse the Bazaar you may also come across some of her merchandize (Entertainer Props) and will try to keep them at a reasonable price.

Love to you all.
