Lotro vs. WoW CommunityFollow

I played FFXI for several years and enjoyed the game mainly because of the community and my LS. Changes SE made in gameplay and their lack of customer service finally cut the last string holding me to the game and I left for WoW. I have been playing WoW for several years and enjoying it immensely, but now I am finding myself more and more disgusted by the community.

It's not on my main server alone but every server I have a toon on. If someone asks a simple question in chat they get varied responses from Lolnoob to stfu tard etc. On top of that there is the problem of kiddies spamming duels, stealing gathering nodes while you're busy fighting a monster near it, leaving a group that doesn't go their way or if they lose a roll on gear, and a few other things I can't think of at the moment.

Basically I'm wondering if the Lotro Community is more mature than the average WoW server. I understand that there will be assbags in any MMORPG but it seems they are overrun in WoW at the moment. I think I actually saw it coming. It's good that Blizzard has a growing playerbase but within that base of 11.5 million players there is a large number of nerdraging kiddies.

Thats a hard question to answer, I suggest seeing for yourself by trying the game. If I had to answer, I'd say most of the time you'll be dealing with mature people. Lotro is a very relaxed, enjoy the ride kind of game, it isn't plagued by intensive gear grinds, or pvp, that causes conflicts with other players.

I am downloading the Lotro Client as I speak. Will I be able to download the client and upgrade with credit card info or do I need to physically buy the CD's to be able to play ?

The lotro download client will work, but I think you'll need the keys from the retail. I'm not 100% sure...it may just be easier to go buy the $40 complete edition (Original Game+Moria Expac)

(I suggest getting the expac even as a new player for the two new classes)

When you get everything installed and patched, come join us on the Meneldor server and send me a tell. I'll be glad to invite you to the Allah Kinship, we'd love to help a new player out.

I have another 4 hours of installation to go for the game client. I think I will go ahead and get a retail copy from the store for the cd key. I appreciate the kinship offer. I will definitely hit you up with a tell when I finally get set up. I also appreciate your quick responses.

"Quick" is Mora's middle name :)

And let me extend a warm if somewhat premature welcome to both the game and the kin.

TINFS (There Is No Fifth Star) is the unofficial Allah kinship and our strong suit is a casual environment coupled with an adult atmosphere.

See you ingame...

I think you'll enjoy LOTRO Antius. The reasons you stated for becoming frustrated with WOW are the same reasons I only lasted about 4 months there myself. Join us on Meneldor and then the major of smart@ss comments you see will be in kin chat!

I bought the xpac today which included the original game. I've already leveled a champion to lvl 4 just to get the feel for the game. I don't know exactly which class I'm going to play as my main yet.

FFXI and LOTRO are far more simliar in communities than WoW is to either one.
