I have come to the conclusion that the intelligence level of Nintendo's games has not changed since I was a child. I want smart games for my DS. Games with "more adult" storylines and less effeminate, cutesy, boy-girl protagonists. Anyone have suggestions? (Or is the DS buy a doomed fail for this?)

Get any of the DS RPGs.

Stay away from anything "puzzle" "simulation" etc. Like all of Nintendo's current products, it's riddled with crap.

Unfortunately a lot of the DS's best games are merely remakes.

I have Advance Wars: 2, it's pretty good. I also have Picross (which is fun) and Castlevania: DoS (Which was was free. It's enjoyable for the short time you can play it.)

Advance Wars DS and Days of Ruin
Castlevania Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia
The World Ends with You
Front Mission
FF3
FF4
FF TA 2
FF12 Revenant Wings
Ace Attorney Series
Ninja Gaiden DS
Sonic RPG
EBA
Trauma Center UtK and UtK2
Pokemon

are all very good games

Course your posts make you out to be the kind of guy that can't enjoy a game without copious blood and a lot of gunmetal gray, but maybe that's a mistaken impression.

I haven't played my DS forever. Same with my Nintendo Wii just too much kiddy junk. Most Wii titles anymore are just crappy kids movie games ported from the PS2 to make some sort of use of the controller.

R4 is a piece of sh*t these days, it's obsolete and unsupported.

Also try to keep piracy talk to PMs.

New PSP games > new DS games. True story.

By new, I mean not remakes of older games.

A dubious claim. Actually it's damn near stupid.

Number of people that own a DS > Number of people that own a PSP.

This is important if you go to conventions and wait in line, because it means if you have your DS, you will not be lonely.

My fiance's niece and nephew each got a DS for Christmas, so we had an awesome four-way pictochat followed by Mariokart going Christmas Day. (Their mother was also relieved to hear that Nintendo doesn't put MA games on the DS.)

Actually to clarify, all other game publishers in the world > Nintendo.

Damn, your taste in games must be atrocious if you can't find enjoyment among first party nintendo software.

Clarifying.

1) Nintendo is a ****** console manufacturer, but they are a fantastic software manufacturer. If you cannot enjoy nintendo made games, then something is wrong with you. They have done almost every genre imaginable.

2) Even without nintendo first party titles or remakes, the DS library vastly eclipses the psp library in terms of quality games.

Examples

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations
Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood
Ninja Gaiden DS
Trauma Center Under the Knife
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings (this is actually a better game than the XII on ps2)

All of these games range from above average to excellent. I even omitted series and sequals from the list, and this is just from my personal library.

Off of the top of my head, I will attempt to do the same for the psp

Patapon?
God of War prequal(I did not like the original god of war myself, but I'm sure a lot of people do)
but wait. we cant count that one because it is from sony
...
...
oh! Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops (assuming that it is of good quality)

...
...
Yeah I got nothing.

So, we have a total of six games on the ds that are not remakes or from nintendo which range from above average to excellent (from only my personal library), and in comparison we have a total of two games that might be interesting from the entire psp library (on the same criteria) that I can remember.

Well, Nintendo didn't make those games.

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow = Konami
Phoenix Wright = Capcom
Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood was made by SEGA and Bioware.
Ninja Gaiden = Team Ninja
Trauma Center = Atlus
FFXII was made by Square Enix (obviously)

Nintendo isn't making the software.

No that was the point. I agree. Look.

Assuredly, the ds not only eclipses the psp library, it overwhelms and destroys it if we are considering first party nintendo titles, all of which are good.

With first party or licensed by nintendo games on the system, it's not even a contest between the systems.

With Nintendo

New super mario brothers
A ton of new and re released rpgs
Pokemon being one of them
FFIV is the best remake of that game ever
Luminous Arc, a decent srpg
Chrono Trigger
Adventue games
Three quite good castlevanias with nice stories and great exploration
There is even a good shooter
Metroid prime DS
Strategy
Advance Wars DS and DoR

Every single time I head to the store I can't help but want more also.

Point: DS Library rocks

The psps saving grace is its graphics capability.

So then what are the excellent software made by Nintendo that we'd be a fool for not enjoying?

I do see any proof of Nintendo being an excellent software creator.
