I just can't seem to enjoy playing ANY game with the mouse for some reason. That said, I got L4D on 360 and am loving it. I wish I would strictly play as infected in versus mode, much more carefree once you've embraced the zombie plague.

if you could do that there would be no versus mode, as there would be no survivors.

Except that the AI is supposed to take over for the survivors "seamlessly", so there shouldn't be any reason in particular that it shouldn't work, at least from my point of view.

There are two problems with that.

1. Everyone and there mother wants to play infected. If the game allowed you to only play infected and only play survivors throughout versus you'd see every multiplayer game instantly fill up with infected and then wait the next 15 to 30 minutes to gather enough survivors to get a game going. Then you'd play for 10 minutes before one survivor got angry and left, and then the rest would leave because the AI survivors are terrible.

2. The game is impossible to balance without symmetry. There would be no way to accurately define who won a map.

AI never lead, i dont think there even capable of it, from all ive seen if it came down to 4 AI suriviours, they would probably just stand there, at least thats what they do from the safe house.

besides, the whole point of versus mode is to play the campaign from both sides, trying to get more points than the other team.

Zero Punctuation reviewed L4D, and it seems like he likes it.

I've been playing some more L4D, and the game is still fun, but it does have some serious flaws in versus mode.

1. The worst problem is the /kill command. Originally intended to deal with situations where a survivor has glitched into an area he cannot escaped or be reach from it turns into a griefing tool. It instantly lets a player kill their current character. Your team mates will sometimes use it if they get pissed at losing or you try to vote kick them for being incredibly bad. The enemy will sometimes use it in a 4v3 situation by temporarily joining your team, killing off one of you characters at the start, then rejoining the enemy team. IT's a highly abusive tool and I have never seen it used properly before.

2. Not being able to select servers or view server information. The first issue being that occasionally your group will end up on a server with a terrible ping. This is a rare issue, but annoying when it does as everyone must now vote to return to the lobby. The greater issue is that you will occasionally join modified servers, and there is no indication that they have been modified until you encounter the problem. Some variations include :expert mode zombies (ouch), early tanks, no witches, random health reductions, multiple tanks, etc. The game applies it evenly to both team, but it can still be highly frustrating.

Otherwise teh game is good, and fun if you are playing with friends or competent allies.
