Ok, im REALLY into the game now, still on my trial account, wondering whether i get the digital download or i buy the boxed game?Any suggestions? With digtal download, if i get a new computer, how do i get the game again?

And onto the questions, i think that since i have a trial account maybe many of these things are disabled?

Im a level 13 commando by the way

1.How do i get the helper droid, it says in all the guides just press cntrl D i believe, never works for me, they fail to tell you i guess that you have to pick up a schematic for a helper droid first?

2.Where are all the trainers, i am in Mos Eisley and only have three trainers, imperial, rebel and privateer pilot.... I was told Mos Eisley has a commando trainer...Disabled due to trial account?

3."Grab a Novice in Medic, Ent, Art, Scout no matter what your profession, they will all come in handy"
How do i do this? Get a novice in medic for instance, went to the hospital, onnly a droid there?Scout?Etc?

4.They talk about 250 skill points? Do i get this later, i only have a lot of red numbers under my skill points tree, and no mention of any 250 points, what am i missing here?

5. Holocron? (Cntrl H) How do i get it, is it also a schematic?

6.And last, im slowly rising in ranks in piloting, but my componets suck, all the ones i see that are any good, say reverse enginering 2, 3 ,4, how do i get reverse engineering or is there another way to get better compnets for a ship?I just got my first tie fighter now as well, want to be able to beat tier 2/3 at least...Now it takes 10 mins just to get through their shields, one of them....

Sorry for all the hassle, but most of the guides start half way through, they dont explain right from the start in a lot of them.

Thanks

It is good to see someone new to the game who displays as much enthusiam as you do. Many of the questions you have can be summed up by this: When this game first came out, it was a completely different game so any guide you are using if it was written before the game changed (refered to as the NGE) will not help you.

Another thing to keep in mind as you are playing, most of the people still playing this game have been playing for a long, long time. A lot of them are very bitter over the changes that have been implemented over the years. Do not get discouraged if many do not seem helpful.

Sony has a website which you may find more helpful. You will not be able to post until you have an active account, but you be able to read through past posts and find many answers you are looking for.

Checking out this new forum now, see where that gets me :-)
What is this NGE everyone talks about, i googled it but i only found vague answers as to some big chenges within the game, could you maybe give me a simp,e version of why everyone got so uppset about this change?
I love everything about this game, so glad i found it, i was fighting between warhammer and Warcraft, but they where not really my cup of tea, SWG most definatly is, just wish id known about it earlier....

i think you'll find all your questions are answered, for the moment at least, by your doing the legacy quest, its also a tutorial - of sorts, theres a shifty looking guy to the left of the entrance to the starport in mos eisley, can't remember his name offhand.. have a chat with him if you havent started the legacy quest already... oh, and throw away that guide you had, its about 3+ years out of date and refers to a completely different game ;D

NGE was a complete overhaul of the games combat system. Before the combat was in ways, more complex because you had weapon speeds for example, not all pistols shot at the same rate they do now. In ways the combat system before NGE was way more complex but it was badly broken also. NGE was an attempt to make the combat and "experience" more fast paced, more action like. But it pist alot of ppl off- Its hard to combine RPG with an FPS crowd, which is what they attempted to do.

it made alot of items redundant in the new system, the top items were now junk. And ppl paid alot for those items, some of the mods totally removed from NGE. Plus all the jedi suddenly had grinded for nothing. They were upset understandbly. But the game goes on.. and continues to be updated regularly. And they're finally giving us free server transfers, someday.

The NGE wasnt a revision of the combat system, but a replacement. it stripped away much of the games functionality, in fact, a great many of the problems still occuring within the game stem from the holes left behind after much of the games functionality was removed. The fact that weapons and items were junked overnight did upset people, with good reason, but it was the removal of the freeform profession system that was the straw that broke the camels back, by junking a good 90 percent of the games functionality and the 'nerfing' of the crafting system, many players discovered that their characters were also 'junked' overnight, the current expertise system is an attempt to address the loss of the different skill based systems that were removed, its not perfect, but its not bad either, and hopefully they will expand on it even further. Its a shame, considering after all thats been done to the game, that it is still neither fast paced, nor an fps, they may have removed the order queue, but it remains a turn based system, its probably not all that surprising, that SWG has become an unpopular game. For that i wholly blame SOE's handling of the situation. Telling the old players they were not needed in the new game was always going to be a PR fiasco, which, considering there are now more games than ever available online - some of them are free to download and play too.. - i can only imagine that SOE's market share of the MMO 'pie' will suffer continued shrinkage.. SWG has improved since the NGE was released, but respect for SOE definitely hasnt. What will happen once the KOTOR MMO is finally up and running is that the glowbat weilding community will more than likely desert SWG, probably for good... ah well, there were too many of them in game anyway, so its not all bad news ;D
