question to forum manager:

I'm a newB, searching for LOTRO information on your forum site.
I don't really enjoy sending you my email account(now expecting misc. junk email), however I understand the financial bonus to get new users, and since your main site has been very helpful, ok I signed up.

Now, I wanted to search on a certain subject, and I get, "must sign up as premium user". You already have my email account, but now you want more. Is Allakhazam forum that big. Lets check your numbers:

as of 9/25/2008 @ 10:30 am Pacific time, ( your Stats )
Users: 1,418,286
Comments: 9,831,881

Holly WargHog!, looks like your site is doing very well.
But I see your forum has only 15 pages at 100 posts/page. lets see, thats about 1500 posts total.( .1% or 1 post for every 1000 users ).
Ok, you probably purge some old posts, but what a shame!, please reconsider your premium search. Don't make me copy these pages and upload to excel worksheet where I can easily search.

Pretty sure those numbers apply to the overall Alla site, which has been around a long time and encompasses more games than just LOTRO. The other numbers in the "stats" block do apply only to LOTRO on this site.

You can search without paying premium. You just can't search with parameters. There is an awful lot of info readily available without premium or even without signing up. You do have to sign up to post though.

I'm sure you'd agree that the people that run this site should get paid. It's a pretty small amount of money for premium services here.

I doubt if Alla will see your post anyways, but jeesh, complain much?

This is a place for quiet reflection and solitude.

If you really want interaction with the community or information on the game itself, allow me to reccomend the official forums or the loTRO Lorebook.

Now quit yer ******** You're disturbing the peace!Smiley: rolleyes

yes, I think your right,
I was being over board with my stat remark

however, I hate it when sites penny pinch you with extra charges or extra information. being an x programmer, this is so simple and basic, It just
upsets me they would do this.

Thanks for reading my post.

The staff of this web site is getting paid good.
look at their advertizement,
past few minutes I see...
Free credit score.com
AT&T phone add
AOL autos ( find a car )

This is a good site. Your right, I use it alot.
I don't like the Forum management charging for the search.

Hey I have an idea. Lets build are own site.
and using there same forum scheem, and we set up
a extra premo member. Premo members get to see actual vowels in the sentences.

Get premium. It is worth it for removal of banner adds alone, and it costs next to nothing ($36/yr). You spend more on lattes in one week.

All the information is available to any user. Premium users simply have easier access to it via advanced search functions. Think of it as taking standard roads somewhere versus the tollway: either way gets you there but paying a little money gets you there faster and easier.

You can also use Firefox with ad-block installed. Sure the ads are there but you don't have to see them if that is an issue for you.
