A beta players review of Requiem: BloodymareFollow

Requiem: Bloodymare

So I beta'd this game in the "closed" beta that was sponsored with GameSpot. It wasn't a bad game, actually it was pretty good. The concept is closer to WoW when you compare the PvP styles but the story line itself is something all together new. It's a post apocalyptic world where the things that go bump in the night also go bump in the day. This fascinating world is populated by horrible monsters but the worst and the strongest come out only during the nightmare hours. Did I mention it is free to play?

There are three playable races; the Turan, the Bartuk and the Kruxena. Don't worry my male geeks, the women still have very little armor to cover their very well proportioned bodies. The story line follows the pain and strife these peoples have suffered. You are sent out on missions to rid the world of these monsters. You protect the cities and you try not to laugh manically as the heads and limbs of the monsters get loped off, their bodies convulsing on the ground. Requiem is touted as a very blood and guts game, while it is more graphically violent it doesn't quite live up to the nightmare ideal. Satan's Reindeer seals the comical effect of it all.

The first 10 levels you only have about 3 fighting skills and every race starts as the same class more or less. It's after level 10 that you get to start branching off into other classes. There is also a way to make your character unique from all others, DNA manipulation. You collect certain items and you take it to a scientist to morph your character into a stronger, faster or more arcane version of your original self.

I'll give the graphics an 8 out of 10 for Requiem. There are still a few bugs but for the most part the game play is very very nice. The story line is new and original compared to the mainstream MMOs out today. The Free-to-Play aspect of it is a step in the direction of tomorrow's MMOs I believe. If you are looking for a new game that will keep your interest for a while and not break your budget, then I suggest keeping your eye on Requiem.
