At this point you're splitting hairs. There's not much of a difference between preaching and handing someone a pamphlet that preaches for you.

No preaching to someone is being in their face or commanding tot hem that something is right or wrong. If you hand me pamphlet you have done one of several things.

1. Given me possible burning material to light a nice cozy fire.

2. Given me something to squash a large insect.

3. Given me a weapon to defend myself in case of a paper wad fight or paper tube duel.

4. Given me something to read.

5. Given me something to simply throw away.

Think about this for a second. When has a pamphlet ever pissed you off to the point of wanting to find who wrote it and do what some people have done in this thread? Its a piece of paper you just throw it away and call them dumb.

Generally it is much harder to remove your self from a situation where some is preaching something.

...really?! You can't honestly be that woefully ignorant. Maybe it's less obvious to the already religious person.

Yeah I do not know what to say.

I really do not think anyone gets on this game to find religion. No offense to you, I am fine with a group that is Christian and all, but I would warn you now that you will not be accepted all that well if you try to convert people in the game.

Amen...j/k

Actually i must agree with AlexanderrOfAsura, this is a game, where people try to live a life without religion, politics, etc.

As a Christian I actually find this thread to be a big eye roller.

FFXI is not a place to "preach" as some have put it. But if you just want to find a group to play with with similar interests....fine. Who cares?

As long as its just considered a fellowship kind of thing, I think its a good idea.

I think this here is the problem.

The Flying Spaghetti Monster will surely smite them from the interwebs with His Noodley Appendage before long anyway.

Oh yes! Not today, not on "Talk Like a Pirate Day". The Pastafarian will not be want this and will defend the true faith in the name in the name of FSM. Corsairs FTW!

No, it's a FFXI'd version of II Kings 2:23-24.

I still find it funny how many people that are against organized religion in general, or against christianity, or against preaching or against any non scinetific belief...keep telling us what christianity is all about.

Gee, thanks for speaking on behalf of...um, the christians? Oh wait...nvm. If you're just spouting nonsense mommy and daddy passed on to you about what they think of religion, please...stop.

At least get a grasp of "know thy enemy" before telling thy enemy what their beliefs are. I love the instant "I know everything about all religions!" mentality that births from one utterance of the word christianity.

Please, continue,,,I'm waiting for you to tell me how all black people love grape soda and every white person wears a tie and sounds like a nerd.

The tenets of Christianity aren't some great secret that's revealed only to 33rd degree Methodists, blastfurnace. They're pretty much common knowledge, and if you don't know them there's been a book or two written on the subject.

But hey, since I happen to have been raised a Christian, I guess I have your blessing to say whatever I ******* well please about it, right?

Oh, and real classy of you to compare the stated beliefs of Christians to some stupid and vile stereotypes that are barely connected to reality. That really makes Christians look good dude. Really.

That's the entire point...has nothing to do with my "class". It's effing stereotyping. Not all christians leap to the highest mountain preaching you're all gonna burn.

I'm sorry if you were raised that way in your all knowing pimpdom christianic upbringing...but it's not how the entire christian community was raised.

*edit* And why is it not just as vile for some ignorant know it all to tell christians they all believe everyones gonna burn? Point is, people who don't know a damn thing about it shouldn't make assumptions based on mommy and daddy or some random one time encounter on their porch.
