Greetings all,

I was not sure where to post this, so I figured general topics was best. This is an invite to check out the MMO Christian Ministry Lions of Judah. Our web page is at http://www.lojkinship.com/. We have groups in Lord of the Rings Online,World of Warcraft and War Hammer Online.

Warhammer just came out the other day, and you already have groups in it for that? I smell a troll.

That's right! We create our OWN!

We prefer the Religion of gear discussions and battle maths, of Moon Phase while farming and which direction to face while crafting.
We prefer the Politics of shady LS leaders and Dynamis scheduling and who's in line for what drop.

Funny, I'm just the opposite. I return to real life to get away from the Religion/Politics of this place.

You know if the exact same post was made but instead of it being about Christians that play MMOs having a place to talk, it was about people who like Anime or football fans or almost anything else, there would not have been this backlash.

I don't know what makes your average MMO player so against the idea of Christianity. No one is "invading" you with this post. It was a simple invite to those who may be interesed. Believe it or not there are religious people who play FFXI and other MMOs, myself included.

On the rare occassion God, Jesus or Christianity is brought up on these forums the forum goes into some weird panic. Does anyone else notice this? No other topic gets this response - you could mention anything else in the world and it would slide right on by, but the mention of religion appears to throw people into a panic, even though I know no one will admit it.

Anyway, take that for what you will. I know I am in the minority on this, but there are some things more important than aggreeing with the MMO community who want to believe they have all the answers to the universe.

I tend to agree with posts by people like Vawn on this situation. There does seem to be a bit of backlash when this post really wasn't all that intrusive. I am not a Christian, and in fact, I come from a long line of Pagans who can trace their lineage back to Britain. If anyone has a right to feel persecuted by Christians, it's me.

Is this the correct place to have posted this topic? Probably not. I feel that anyone who is already worshiping any given religion will seek out groups like this if they so desire, and this forum is dedicated to things specifically relating to Final Fantasy.

But it's not the end of the world that someone posted an invitation. It could have been much worse.

If the guy came into the forum and invited anyone who was a white male to join a white supremacy group, would you people still be complaining about the lack of tolerance? Religious organizations are fundamentally exclusionary, dogmatically intolerant and no less divisive. The only reason they get a free pass is because, unlike racist organizations (black, white, hispanic, etc.) they try to maintain a public veneer of peace along with their pious self-righteousness.

Personally, I think the backlash is well founded. Is it right to hold people accountable for the crimes of their predecessors? No, of course not. But I can surely condemn them for their very apparent hate speech now. If you want me to be tolerant of a religion, show me that it doesn't follow a holy book filled with hate speech, justifications of murder and rape, and the kind of backward morality they're famous for.

Edit: Corrected a miss-wording.

Does the Final Fantasy Franchise count as a religion, if you religiously buy each next installment?

While I couldn't care less about other peoples religion I'm wondering how playing a mmo and being all religious work together isn't sitting around doing nothing but play all day a sin anyways ?

preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to the online community

Sure is a good way to get banned from a game I would think, I know you prolly don't mean preaching in /shout or on the public chat channel to ppl but if you did... don't do it its a bad idea.

Its like that gay/tranny linkshell guy that posted once.. can of worms ... to much info and so on...

I kind of like their "code" on their website. I've been growing increasingly frustrated with the general immaturity found on this game and its associated forums. I think we could *all* benefit from trying to follow their code.

So you are going to teach them about the massive evidence accumulated by science, the scientific method, and well tested scientific theories? I don't think ffxi is the right forum, but I applaud your efforts to get people past superstition and consider the evidence on their own or at least use the output of centuries of scientific study that has given us all of our modern technology. It even allows us to play games in virtual worlds with people from all over the world.

DarknightZero I agree with you. All this is, is an invite. If you want no part in it, dont play and socialize with those characters. He did no preaching here, many of these responses are harsh and completely uncalled for. What are some of you guys scared?

Thank you all for your comments. If you see me in game and need a heal or a tele-(somewhere) ^^, and I am available let me know. I won't start force feeding you the bible, I promsie ^^. The dedicated comment did seem rather in your face, no, I won't be /shouting, /telling "turn or burn" or anything like that. Having the gospel of Jesus Christ readily available for anyone who wishes to read it on our web page is dedication as well, and more what I was meaning. Thus the invite to the page, sort of like an invite to a church service. However if anyone has any sincere questions about Christianity, myself or someone in LoJ will make ourselves available, and help to the best of our ability. I am looking forward to fun times and pwnage, God Speed in your adventures!

Smiley: smile Welcome CookiesandMilk! It is very brave and commendable that you post your RL Faith to a the virtual world of FFXI. There is nothing wrong with having a clean, family friendly group of Christians while playing various MMOs. It appear from your alla player profile you have an understanding of FFXI (and hopefully your job). It is good to know that you have FFXI in common with everyone. However, it is suggested (which I am sure you already know, and to be nice to your Faith) to keep your religious beliefs in OoT forums .Smiley: oyvey

Almost 3hrs later. Seems kinda.. troll-like.

Why would he defend his post or his view? Isn't a defensive attitude exactly what most of the responses so far have been against?

If the OP did come back to defend himself, everyone would be like, "See, he's pushing his religious beliefs on us again. We were right!"

I don't know what's worse.
People who are intolerant, or people who can't tolerate intolerance.
Oh wait, nevermind.
Seems I'm making a hyocrite of myself.
I can't tolerate you being intolerant about someone else's intolerance.

I'm not intolerant of intolerance. I'm just intolerant of hypocrisy. If you want to be intolerant, fine. Be intolerant. Just be honest about it.

I'm intolerant.
I'm intolerant of people being intolerant. Whether that be against my intolerance, or against other's I'm still a hypocrite.
Kirby's hypocrisy skill rises 0.2 points.

Hm.. disappointing that there are people so intolerant over this post. I am not all that fond of it but I did not want to attack it. If reflects badly upon these forums when people cannot just be somewhat friendly. Just inform the poster this is not the place for it and be done with it, don't go out of your way to try and offend.

I agree. It's sad to see such intolerance. This isn't much different than any other post that communities post, niche or otherwise. Don't like it? Ignore it! Just like any other community you don't care to be apart of!

Just my 2cp!

*hides*

Well, if you look at it another direction, how tolerant would they be if you went into their forum and started to preach about Buddhism or the Koran? They won't start up a lively discussion about the differences of each religion. What they would do is tell you that you're going to burn in hell unless you become a Christian.
