C wud I did thar?? lol

Anyway, enough of 1/2 awake Gyfford jokes.

Is there a easier way to tell where to go for quests (on the map or the HUD)? A easier way to tell where the toon is to hand in said quest?

Now I just dinged lv 8 Captian last night, so there's only Combe and the other starting town, but I still got confused lol. Also, I missed the timed Swamp bag grab quest looking for where in that HUGE area the bag was located (Yes I could have got on here and checked... I was stupid lol).

Anyway, just starting LoTR again (since Beta), is there a easier way to figure out where you need to go for quest visually? Yes, read "On the road North and East of Combe...." but, I tend to do that quest... run all the way back to Combe, see the next quest is just past the place I was at /sigh.

In WoW I have Cartographer, where you can make notes on the map. I write the cords down on paper for all my quest, hope on Alla get cords, then mark all of them down, easy. On WAR the quests are automatically marked on the map, shows exactly where to go.

Thanks for any help.

LotRO has no such options. There are no 3rd part UI elements available (not permitted) and no icons exist on the map to steer you right to your guy.

On the up side, the quest directions are usually very good and should be all you need to find what you're looking for. Back in closed beta, when there was no information available anywhere, I was still able to complete almost every quest without assistance.

For those few where you do need a hand, try the advice chat channel. There is usually a kind soul available to give you a push in the right direction and as a rule, the community is very friendly.

Ah, ok. I was assuming it would go something like this....

<random person> STFU Noob
<other random person> LMAO noob

Sorry flashbacks from the Barrens chat from WoW ;P

Not at all... unlike WoW (where you are lucky to find someone who acts like they are older then 12) I think you'll find the vast majority of players in ME are friendly and helpful and will be happy to take the time to answer your questions... heck, some of them are likely to offer to drop what they're doing and take you there!

Well offhand, if I know the quest you're talking about, the quest text tells you that you need to recover the pack from the Neeker-breeker that stole it. Which means mindlessly slaughtering them until you come across it. For the most part, quest texts, or the tooltip log bit, will tell you exactly what you need to do to complete a quest.

Finding things seems to be a common difficulty for folks coming from WoW. This is a thread from just a couple weeks ago, asking basically the same question. Check it out, there may be some additional information.

I'm guessing, more than anything, it'll just be a matter of getting used to doing without a tool you had before. Once you've adapted, you'll forget you were ever dependent on such a thing;)

Welcome to Middle-Earth.

Actually I've poked my nose into other servers and have seen some /ooc banter that was of the "STFU NOOB" tone.

Meneldor seems to have a pretty helpful and mature population for the most part.
