Anyone got it yet?
Is it AWESOME AND COOL?
Or is it LOL FAILZ?
I picked up one of those $5 pre-order thingies from Best Buy the other day and I was thinking about getting the game on my way home from work today.
#2REDACTED, Posted: Sep 02 2008 at 1:52 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I kept seeing the commercial for it and everytime I saw "Undiscovery" I wanted to kill some ************. Not going to be bought by me.

Impressions of the first hour:

- Jesus, it's dark in this dungeon.
- Wow, running up a lot of stairs... dark stairs.
- Who conveniently places exploding barrels along a potential escape route for prisoners?
- Dark forest is dark.
- WHY IS EVERYTHING SO DARK

Then I saved the game and turned it off. Back to Tales of Vesperia for a little while, at least until my eyes can see colors again.

So I bought it anyway.
I wanted something to play while I took a very short break from FFXI to wait for that delicious new update that came out today.

First, comments on the replies:
  • Really? You're going to let the title of a game alone be the deciding factor in your not purchasing it? It's your money, I guess. $60 IS a lot of money
  • The begining of the game is pretty dark. I mean IT'S DARK. But once you get out of the forest, it's not like that. There was a section of another dungeon that was dark, but if you bring the right items, it's not a problem.

  • Positive toughts:
  • For the most part, the battle system is pretty fun. There aren't any encounters per se. You see the monsters on the field and fight them right there. (or chose to run) There is one aspect I don't like, which I'll talk about in a second
  • Sometimes, you will go on a mission where you will have a second, and sometimes third party. It kinda gives you a fun feeling to be rushing in with so many people to complete an objective.
  • The characters and myhtos of the game are pretty interesting (to me). The main character is pretty much the standard RPG main character - doesn't know his parents, never had any friends, doesn't know how to talk to girls, but I can get over that as it's pretty much expected these days.
  • It's very pretty
  • The voice acting is pretty bad, but it's such that it's actually hilarious and in a wierd way, I enjoy it. Honestly though, there are few games that have movie like good voice acting

  • Negative thoughts:
  • Using items in the field require you to stop what you're doing and open the menu. This makes healing and keeping people alive a bit of a hassle in battle. You can issue a command for any available party member to help heal, after which they will use magic or items to heal. But sometimes it seems like they wedge their heads very firmly up their asses and insist that they are way too busy, which has gotten me killed a few times.
  • You will get some members of your party that you're not allowed to put in your main party. Only mildly annoying as there are plenty of useful characters that WILL go in your main party.
  • Sometimes, it seems a little unclear where you're supposed to be going. You'll have a name for a city, but no idea where that place is. I suppose that was to encourage you to explore a little, but it's kinda annoying. Give me a direction.

  • Overall, I enjoy playing the game and have the fullest of intentions to finish it.

I just got this and started last night.

Pretty much same as the above.

Dark prison is Dark, but to be expected.

    LOL ENGLISH VOICE ACTING SUCKS

"Wow, him scfreaming out the combo attack names is annoying as ****"

In the forest, I had to use the mini map in the top right to navigate, as I couldn't see a damn thing.

Game seems decent, although it mae me mad when I synced with Ayn, and used her ranged attack, where you aim yourself, I couldnt hit a guard for ****, but I could pop an apple off of a tree np.

"you'll never find anything" is not a title that would make me think that a game is going to be fun fun fun, and thats what it translates too.

    Two questions.

I just started disk two, so, I should probably block this.

Ok, so after Sigmund dies, and you get his locket, wtf? Is it just for the sake of seeing you got it? I cant equip it.

Number two, I got the Ring of Life from the chick in Fayel. It says HP Regen +3%. Is that only after you use a regen item? Or it adds more HP for every cure? Cuz it sure isnt regening.

Number 3: Any reason to keep the sword he gives you? I havent sold it yet just in case I need it for the last chain or something.

And four HOW ******* BADASS IS AYA's BEAR? Just wish you could have a full party with him.

    5: I want Michelle. Bad.

    I think thats it.

I just got back from romping through the desert and fighting the second chain. My question is, does this game get better? It took me forvever to find where to go chain 2. The map is horrible even if you have it explored.
