You point, I punch.
You ought to give Planescape Torment another try. Once you get further into it it's going to blow your mind. Seriously, it bloody rocks. I personally fell in love with the Neverwinter Nights games. The first I spent two years playing (with playermade addons) and the second has provided just as much entertainment.
You've already mentioned Baldur's Gate Saga. I will see that Baldur's Gate and raise you Icewind Dale. Same company, same engine, same awesomeness.
In newer games, I'd throw you Knights of the Old Republic. The first was the best KotoR game, the second wasn't quite as good but still worth playing. Mass Effect will also provide excellent storyline and character interaction. Should you decide to play Mass Effect, I would like to point out following quote from Wikipedia on ME2:
Wikipedia wrote:
Casey Hudson, Project Director for BioWare, has said that players should keep their Mass Effect save-files[citation needed], because decisions made by the player in the first game will continue to have influences on their character in the sequel.[2] Players who have not played the first Mass Effect will start a new character in Mass Effect 2, and will be brought up to speed on the story elements that have taken place thus far in the series.[3] It is highly recommended, however, that people play the first game before playing the sequel. Hudson also states that characters from the previous game will return, provided that they were not killed.[2]
