Allakhazam needs to make a vanguard site. They are the best site for info, and aren't covering the best mmo i've played.

It's pretty much been stated in other threads that Allas will not support a Vanguard Fan site.

Sigil wasn't willing to play nice with Alla's. Turbine was (LoTRO's company). According to this sites owners, resources were such that only one game could, at this time, be hosted. Alla went with LoTR.

Maybe, now that Sigil is out of the picture, and the game is gaining popularity, that decision will be re-looked at.

I hear that Ten Ton Hammer and Silky Venoms both have comprehensive fan sites. As for me, thus far I've been a Vanguard purist. I've not used cheats, walkthroughs, guides etc, but have found my way around Telon on me own. It's been amazingly, satisfying fun. Smiley: wink

i decided to take a break from vanguard a month or so ago, due to problems with some of the quests not being finishable etc, have they been working on the quests, as im thinking of taking a look at it again, but wondered how the game was going, have heard that player retention is pretty bad?

I hadn't found any quests that didn't work as intended since release. They have added a bunch a questlines though. Smiley: smile

Population seems to be picking up a bit. I suspect, maybe people have naturally started upgrading pc's. These new pc's will play the game.

I've also heard, however, that servers are merging...or maybe some merged???

Given the population of the game right now, I wouldn't hold your breath. I'd guess they'd rather wait to expend their resources on Age of Conan or Warhammer.

If Danalog has his way there will be a Pirate Forum. Smiley: smile

Wow ben a long time since I posted on alla but any ways to the point. I would like to see alla have a vg site but atm if you ask me vg is a very unstable game. Where the game is headed idk there is a server merger about to happen with in about 3 weeks.

This is a double edge sword on one hand it may help with the problem of not being able to find a group and being forced to play a class that can solo well or wait days or more for a group but on the other hand some thing is going to get screwed up with the merger and theres gona be alot of pissed ppl im hoping not but I have yet to see them put out a patch that didnt mess some thing else up.

The game at least on my server is some what devoid of life though there have ben a few new ppl come to the game far more have left than joined.

It was runing better till the last patch and now runs like crap and my comp might not be a 4k uber gaming rig but it runs oblivion on HQ setings with almost no lag at all only the slitest hicup when loading the next chunk. When I chunk in vg my comp just stops for some times up words of 15sec or more. Witch brings me to another down fall of the merger if the game runs like crap now whats gona happen when theres more ppl around meaning more toon grafics for your comp to deal with.

Idk sorry for all the doom and gloom but as much as I would like to see alla do a vg site I personaly would tell him not to for now. The games just not worth it right now. If the merger dont go right(it prolly wont) or if finding a group is still a massive pain I think I may take my mothly dues back to ffxi and finaly get a premium sub to alla but ill just have to wait and see how things turn out.
/end rant

The game is now much more stable, I used to crash every 15 min and now I can play without crashing anymore.

Vanguard is such a good game, hope people come back to try it again.

I am looking for Allakazam's database on Vanguard too. Allakazam's has always been my source for EQ1.. Vanguard is juste EQ1 but better, without the limitation and pain of EQ1 to play.

Be safe all !

... i play vanguard currently, and im lucky if it only crashes to desktop once an hour, usually after the 3rd crash i call it a day. There are less bugs now in vanguard generally, but its still far from being stable.

This wouldn't happen to me when I played, and that was six months ago. In fact, I think I crashed maybe once or twice in two months of playing.

I left because the population was so tiny. Really a bummer, too, because I loved the game.

the error message i get each time is pretty much the same;
unable to recover from error - it generates a report and then im back at the desktop again. but its totally random, you can be playing for 2 or 3 hours no problem, then it'll crash, or sometimes just after 30 minutes.

Give the complete picture. Sigil wasn't willing to play nice with Alla, because of Alla's association with IGE at the time (yeah, yeah, I know. Both owned by the same company, blah blah blah. But Sigil had a firm stand against IGE and other similar sites and they weren't going to play nice with anyone who was even remotely connected with them.)

So Alla decided it was not going to make a VG site, and hasn't changed their stance since then, because they were blocked early on.

Classic pissing contest.

Alla hasn't changed stances since because Vanguard is a tiny-population niche game that isn't worth the effort of making a site for from the ground up.

As a different example, LoTR:O has a small population but Turbine allowed Alla to get the foundation work for a site in during Beta so now all Alla has to do is keep up with updates. Even if the current population wasn't "worth it", it's a minimal amount to work to keep it up. Doing one for Vanguard would be a major undertaking for absolutely no reward.

still no further update on if alla is going to do this? i heard word of a wiki maybe starting? pretty sure it would become a decnt money maker for alla as population is increasing and there are no other sites like alala out there (not how alla had eq1 info set up). had a sub for 5 years i think with alla maybe longer but now moved to eq missign not having to open up 3 websites to find the info i need.

Maybe you missed the part where they told Allas to **** off, or the part where the game was released well before it was finished and the entire community was basically told to deal with it.

The game will never be what it was meant to be and due to the problems with the early release, will remain a nitch game until the day it dies.

As has been said several times, the odds of Allas putting the resources into creating a database of V:SoH are slim to none.

Vanguard has come a long way. The devs have done a great job to fix what was broken, and make a much more solid, accessible, and fun game of it. With the Living Legacy promotion I went back into EQ, EQ2, and Vanguard (which I only played in Beta) - and I gotta say, for me, Vanguard is the keeper. The community is the best I've seen in an MMORPG, and the population is growing - with pretty much zero marketing effort, just by word of mouth. Its often been described as the "spiritual heir" of EQ - I can't think of a more appropriate game for Alla to support. Any bad blood from the Sigil/Brad McQuaid days is really irrelevant at this point. This is an SOE game now, and a very good one. I've been with Alla since 2000, and VG is my game now. I'd like to see it supported.

Your wish is (semi) granted. Vendolyn is starting a Vanguard Wiki in our Wikibase (without the base part for the foreseeable future) and with a little template help from me. Just like you, I have Station Access so with my new PC I reloaded Vanguard to check it out and played for several hours yesterday (got to level 7 Necro). Then the ATI went nuts and it crashed :)

Anyway, the point of all this is that http://www.allakhazam.com/wiki/Vanguard_Saga_of_Heroes is the top page for the new Vanguard Wiki. I am working on the Quest and Mob templates right now, and they should be up and usable later today.

IF we get enough action on this and it takes off, we may be able to convince Alla and Draknorr to let us do the full db-enhanced Wikibase, but for now this is what we have. I looked around the net yesterday and could not find any kind of current quest-base efforts out there, so this is it. Let's all make the most of it.

If you are totally new to Wikis, hop over to the Wikibase forum and just ask for help! it's my job...

Fantastic news!

Thanks for the effort and support Bludwyng, hope things work out because a db would be a wonderful asset for the community.

Regards & Good Hunting!
