SoR Question: Taking the transfer not the boost.Follow

As the title suggests, I'm looking to receive a SoR from a friend. But before I jump back into wow too eagerly I'm still trying to figure out if you can accept a realm & faction transfer but not take the boost to 80.

They are re-rolling and I have a toon at a similar level to them but on Horde side on a different realm. I don't want to create a new character and boost it or level it from scratch as I would miss out on the leveling shenanigans which is really the main reason I want to come back. If anyone could give me an answer I would appreciate it.

No one on official forums have been able to provide, and my open ticket is 4 days old and ticking...

I'll tell you my experience. A friend sent me a scroll and I re-upped on my account. I logged in and since I already had a level-capped hunter and another at almost 80, and since my friend was on a different server, I decided to take the boost to 80 on my bank toon - a hunter. I ran around and cleared stuff out of her bank vault that I wanted to leave on my then-current server, and sent her a couple of things to take with her.

If I recall correctly, you go to your main account page and there is something there that you use to choose the character you want to boost. So, my point is, just don't boost any of your characters. I don't know if it ever expires, but if not then you can keep it for later. I don't remember getting any nag screens reminding me, and I know I waited a few days because I transferred my main character to my friend's server first and started running stuff with him. So I think it's a pretty benign reward that you can ignore if you want.

I hope this helps, and welcome back.

On your main account net, you chose which character you wanted boosted, as Cynyck said, you don't have to take the boost. The mount associated with a SoR has a 30 day claim period or so, if i remember correctly. With tht being said, the level boost may have a similar time limit. However, you don't have to take it if you really don't want it.

My suggestion, should you come back, is to use a boost on an alt you may want to play later when you're bored. You can still level a 'main' with your friends and when you're bored play the boosted character. For those few 5 levels, or 10 depending on when you decide to play it.

Good luck.

Good suggestion... I've already got two level 80s and a lvl 74 though, so I would rather level another toon from his mid 30s to 80. Will keep it in mind if you can do both. Since the rogue is on a PvP realm (where they belong) I might boost another rogue on this new PvE server since it means I wont be trying to learn 80 levels of progression that you would get with a fresh class.

I already have a few cloth heirlooms and my lvl 33 pally was pretty tricked out last I remember. It was more about the "experience" than just having another 80.

Now I just get to spend the first free week of my trial period trying to get my UI back to how it used to be... fun times.

My TBC guild re-formed and moved over to Area 52 Horde side. They used SoR's to help people xfer off Firetree to get to the new realm. Helped save on the cost for players.

On a non SoR note, SWTOR is having a "recruit a friend" thingamajig that gives a mount. Anyone want to PM me their email and try out the game free to play (no credit card or anything) until lvl 15?
