Nahom is DefenselessFollow

#1 Jun 16 2012 at 9:40 PM Rating: Decent
I've failed this quest (The Defense of Nahom) more times than I can count! Any ideas how to get through this? I'd really like to see the rest of Uldum, but I can't get any more quests until I get through this one.

After the first wave of attackers half my infantry are dead. By the time the big dude gets there most of my archers are dead. I'm not sure if it's my connection speed (VERY SLOW internet and absolutely NOT fixable) or if I'm just doing something wrong, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Looked at wowhead and found very little that helped.

Grrrr! I thought I hated vehicle quests before. This one takes my hatred to new levels.

Are you remembering to spam the various vehicle abilities? Like some of the WotLK quests, there is a 'super' ability that you have to spam regularly.

The best advice I read on wowhead, matching what I remember of the quest, was this bit:

the fastest way to complete this quest is to put your infantry right in front of your archers so that the enemy gathers into one spot and u can aoe them

ps. to kill the big one faster, have your infantry tank him to the walls of the temple building and use the sunshine skill so that it knocks him towards the wall...otherwise it knocks him out of the aoe area

As mentioned, there are vehicle button abilities to use during the quest. You can direct your infantry to a certain set of stairs, wherever the enemy is approaching from. While your infantry attack, you can use another ability to have your archers attach from a distance. Every now and then, if you're overwhelmed (especially when the big giants come) you can unleash the large sun weapon, which helps to clear the decks.

There are possibly also Youtube videos online showing how to complete the quest.

Yeah, I've tried these ideas, and so far no luck. Watched the (all of 2) videos on youtube as well.

On wowhead it also says "As a DK you do a tad more damage because the minions you control can do a Rune Strike attack..."

Is it possible that level and gear actually matter on this quest?

I'd be more inclined to blame lag if you know you have a particularly bad connection. I've done it on a DK, a Druid and a Hunter and haven't noticed it to be particularly difficult.

I'd really hate for it to be lag cause that's not fixable for me. Where I live we have only ONE internet provider via satellite and they are slooooowwww! No, switching to cable or even dial-up isn't even an option because there are no power/phone lines anywhere nearby. (Our electric comes from a generator, and yes, we live middle of nowhere. Lowest cost to put in power lines has been quoted at 25k.)

So I'm really hoping it might be something that is gear or tactics related.

My tactics so far - keep the infantry right in front of the archers, start hitting the baddies w arrows as soon as I can see them, blast everything with the solar power. LOL this basically results in "watch everything die before the big bad even gets near you".

If you have satellite internet, I can almost guarantee that lag is your problem.
