Survey Approved 4-5-2012 ~ Administrator Kaolian
Hello,

I am Daniel Meijer and I am conducting my master thesis about teamwork in World of Warcraft. I want to ask you if you could take 10-15 minutes of your time to fill in the questionnaire. Your answers will be anonymous. We do not ask you to disclose your actual name or game identity in the survey (so you are individually anonymous), but we will ask you what your raiding guild is so we can look at survey participants from the same guild. Therefore your guild name will only be used to see which respondent belongs to which. Again, these data will be analyzed and reported completely anonymously, your guild’s name will not be published.

During this questionnaire we will let you encounter three bosses from the instance Dragon Soul. For each boss you will receive questions about how you think your team will act in that situation.

For this team research we focused on the instance Dragon Soul because most of the raid teams already entered this instance. If you and your raid haven't entered Dragon Soul yet, you can still fill in this questionnaire by imagining that you and your raid team encounter these bosses. Just provide your answers based on what you think your raid team would do if encountered with a boss from World of Warcraft. So, please read and follow the instructions carefully and decide what you think that your team will do.

I have played World of Warcraft for a couple of years now. My belief is that if you ever took part in a raid team, you know what teamwork is:
• Working together with 10 or 25 people to defeat the most challenging bosses
• Situations where if one member of the team fails, the whole team fails
• Teams that work together towards a common goal

Games like WoW require skills, coordination, and teamwork-just like any other task in the real world. Social scientists are becoming more and more interested in WoW, particularly because it is (in some way) so similar to many real world endeavors. Personally, for example, I believe that many business teams in organizations can learn a thing or two from Raid Teams. With my research I want to add something positive and constructive to the image of WoW and the image of gamers in general, showing the world that games can be inspiring and something you can learn from. My research focuses on team processes and differences in performance of teams.

In Organizational Psychology there is much interest in team processes. With this research I want to add something to this literature. This research is part of a bigger project at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. This project is being led by Dr. E.F. Rietzschel, who is also my supervisor.
Your participation is highly appreciated, but of course it is entirely voluntary. If you want, you can stop with the questionnaire at any moment.

Please inform your fellow raid members as well. This research is about teams, so it would be nice if we can analyze teams that are complete.

Please take a couple of minutes of your time to fill in this questionnaire.

How much coin?

As for the OP, I'll be happy to take the survey when I'm not at work since my work comp is a stupid head, but good luck with your research.
