I actually
downloaded the source code, modified it myself (using some basic C++ knowledge) and recompiled it (yes, I had a C++ compiler installed on my computer at the time), and...
1). Removed rapid multiplication from certain mobs (lice, etc). I toned it waaaay down, so that the multiplying thing was much more sensible.
2). Made it so that it didn't overwrite the character save if you die.
3). Tweaked how much money you lose when you hit certain traps or run into thieves.
4). Made it so that spellbooks cannot be burned, lost, or destroyed by any means.
Had MUCH more fun afterwards!
