Do experience points matter at all once you're at L85? been chasing them for so long, picking target and quests because of them, etc. Since I can no longer advance, does it really mater what quests I take or mobs I kill (excluding PVP, of course)?
Although it may no longer seem like you advance at level 85, that isn't really true. Now comes leveling your gear and skill (by skill I mean your skill at the game, not your professions). Contrary to common believe, 85 isn't the end. Its just the beginning. And being 85 doesn't mean you're ready for anything with an 85 requirement. Now you want to collect justice points and run heroics to increase your item level. Although there are always exceptions, your main aim is to get pieces of gear that increase your item level. Higher item level generally (please note generally) improves your performance and increases the dungeons you can join.
And as the previous post states, you also get cold for doing quests. Especially at max level there are daily quests designed solely for the purpose of giving 85's gold. Tol Barad are the easiest to get at, but if you'e quested in Hyjal you may have access to or be close to the Firelands dailies, and, if you've quested in Deepholme the same is true for the Therazane quests.
Now the leveling takes more thought and focus. You have gear, skill, professions, knowledge, and reputation to level and depending on your class and spec and what you plan on doing you'll need to figure out which is the most beneficial for you to attack right off the bat.
