I was looking at upgrades as I level my Priest (now 74) - I have gone shadow on advice and it seems to have worked.

Several of the upgrades for trinkets were crafted and it got me to thinking about what he should do.

He currently has Mining and Engineering but Engineering is only at 53 atm. Should I stay engineered or scrap it and do something else.

I already have max in all professions on other characters so its really only about what might be most helpful for him.

The other professions that give trinkets - JC,Alchemy & Inscription iirc are all quite expensive to level - not that Engineering is cheap.

I would value opinions.

He isn't going to raid so I am not going to get high level drops. Just quest rewards Smiley: smile

I've liked Engineering just for all the gadgets. Rocket boots, parachutes, shields, stun bombs, X-ray specs, Poultryizer, nets, etc. Its another CD in battlegrounds, some extra CC when soloing, and all kinds of useful stuff. I don't remember the trinket being all that amazing though. I think I used it for a couple of days once I got it, but it was pretty quickly replaced.

I would stick with Engineering if you already have every other profession maxed out but that might be the completionist in me talking. Trinket wise, I would just stick to quest rewards. Nothing you get from professions, trinket wise, is worth keeping around expecially once you get to Hyjal/Vashj'ir (not that you don't already know that Smiley: tongue). Engineering has a nice helm you can make at max level plus with cogs you will get a massive stat boost in your choice of stats.

TL;DR - Stick with Engineering.

If you're doing it solely to fill the trinket slot, and not raiding, the Alchemist Stone goes up to 359, as do Darkmoon Cards from Inscription. I agree that it's not a sufficient reason to change professions.

The best reason to go with Inscription is getting to completely skip Deepholm and the Therazane rep grind for your shoulder 'chant. Other than that, all the professions basically balance out.

Maybe it's just my server's economy, but alchemy is one of the cheapest and easiest professions to power level. I just took my priest from 1-525 in about 2 hours for 1800g. I mined/prospected the gems needed for transmutes near the end, but bought everything else. www.wow-professions.com has excellent profession leveling guides but remember, prices vary by server.

I like engineering on my priest. I have the cardboard assassin tinker hotkeyed, in case I need to divert a little attention away from the healer. The helm is nice for a new level 85. Plus, the wormhole generator comes in handy for getting around, and don't forget your Loot-a-rang. Yeah, I'm an engineering fan.

Ultimately, do what you like and have fun.
