At this point in the game, what is the rationale behind recipes that are not always on a vendor?

As I sit here and wait for a recipe to spawn it simply baffles me as to why we are still waiting for such things.

Ah well... thanks for reading.

The vendor was writing down another copy of the recipe, but had to run to the Inscription vendor to buy more parchment.

It's a hell of a walk if you're that vendor in Astranaar.

They let the people who are starting over on a new server find something that will sell on the AH. Leveling keeps speeding up, so many recipes have lost their former importance and utility. The people who have to get all of the recipes are paying for their collection as much as any utility the recipe might hold.

For me, it isn't so much the limited availability recipes that are an irritant as it is recipes that used to be at the upper end of the profession and now it really isn't worth farming 15,000 Primal Navel Lint to make. I leveled a toon with LW ahead of a druid and from time to time I will see a recipe on the AH. Then, I pass on it when I look at what it would take to make and think "easier to run instances and it will only be good for a few levels".

Yeah, I'm hoping that crafting professions will be updated in lieu of a new profession in MoP. I know, I'm not holding my breath.

That reminds me of something I read about gear in MoP. To avoid insane stat inflation (Tanks approaching 1 mil health, etc), they are going to go back and level the curve so the jump in stat level between expansions is mostly gone. There's the chance this will actually make some of the old crafted blues and epics useful, since they won't be trivialized by green quest gear right away.

I'm still pissed they completely removed some recipes with Cata's release.

Such as the recipes from Knot's cache (Dire Maul north) and the BC blacksmith specialty recipes. Hooray, specialties removed, boo you removed the specialty recipes... seriously, wtf.

Won't hold my breath for those to return :(

I'm mad that they removed most of the Glacial tailoring patterns when they moved Naxx to Northrend. I really want to make myself the Glacial set for Mogging for my frost mage, but the only patterns they kept and moved to the trainers are the robe, belt and shoes. *grumbles*

I hope that when they adjust the gear for MoP, they bring back some of the recipes.
