I am unhappy about the announced expansion. So because of that, I am going to vent my anger at everyone on this forum, because I expect you all to somehow care about what I think, despite the fact that you don't know me or have any reason to care, I will nontheless tell you anyway.

I have been playing this game for an amount of time, which somehow makes my opinion worth something. And based on that, I think that Pandaren will totally destroy this game.

There are any number of reasons why. Here are some of them.

1- The inclusion of these pandas will make the game very childish. I want a game full of magic and dragons which is not childish. I want a very serious and grown-up game where I can throw fireballs at goblins without pandas anywhere.

2- There is no lore about Pandaren at all, and this somehow means that the developers shouldn't try to make any or create any. Creativity sucks. I want the same kind of thing we have seen a hundred times before.

3- The inclusion of Pandaria and its exotic oriental atmosphere will totally ruin the exotic atmosphere of the game. Just like how the inclusion of Outland and the exotic atmosphere of it ruined Azeroth before.

4- Pandas are dumb.

5- Having semi-animal type people will attract furries to the game. I'm glad we don't have any of them already.

6- Pandaren are a joke race. They are only there for comedy. Blizzard has never made joke races playable before. So they shouldn't now. And on that subject, goblins are totally serious and not a joke, guys.

Despite the fact that this game is the most popular MMO on the market, this expansions clearly shows that it is dying. Don't ask me to explain why, it just is. I am going to switch to Star Wars instead, because clearly that is a franchise that still has a lot of life left in it, and has very very grown-up races like wookies and ewoks.

I also noticed that they are wanting to make it possible for our vanity pets to DO THINGS!! WTF is up with that? I like my pets to just sit there and look nice and be utterly inactive. Doing things is stupid.

So yeah, good job Blizzard, I am totally quitting this game for ever and ever and ever, until I come back. Which I won't. Promise. Hah! You guys are totally losing out here. While you're playing with your childish martial arts bears, I'll be swinging around a laser sword and zapping bad guys like a real grown-up gamer!

I really hope Blizzard loses all of its subscribers because of this, because they deserve to be punished because of my dislike of their development choices! That would definitely teach them for making a game with this type of content. I pray for their financial destruction, because I am SO INSANELY RIDICULOUSLY ANGRY at this for some reason!!

I laughed.

While there are some things about the expansion (the talents, etc.) I'm not overly enthusiastic about, the whole "zomg pandas r liek dumbs and 4 kidz" spam is getting ridiculous.

The poster is being sarcastic in that thread, by the way. Notice how many people fail to realize that in the replies. It's worrying.

Yeah, the OP made it painfully obvious that his post was sarcastic. That's just sad that people didn't pick up on it.

Also, lols @ "doing things is stupid!"
#3 Oct 23 2011 at 3:09 PM Rating: Good
Well... for some people it is hard to see sarcasm in text.

I would think that a lot of people who reply (or even make posts) to things like this are not very "in tune" with how things actually work.

It is stupid to say that anything will "ruin" WoW at this point. And to get worked up over someone else saying it is just stupid.

It comes down to not playing if you aren't satisfied that your $15/month is spent constructively, and if you think you are special enough to let others know you aren't going to be playing for whatever reason then that itself is a whole other problem. Sooner or later they will realize that 99% of the people who read (or skip over it. heh) their post/reply really do not care what they do... it isn't like it is their dime you are playing on.

Anything new in the game is good enough for me... I don't care what it consists of... or lacks.

Pokemon. They get abilities and can fight other noncom pets, leveling up and gaining new moves. You can also encounter noncoms in the wild who you aquire through battling.

Yeah, there's plenty to fear about the next expac, but Pandaren as a race doesn't seem like one of them to me. If I was given the choice between WoW with Pandaren, and WoW without, I'd probably choose without. But their inclusion doesn't bother me.

Basing a whole expac on a loose joke race does though. :P

But I could ignore that if there was anything else that looked good to me. Really don't like where they are taking talents, and Monk isn't enough of an attraction for me. Plus, the Horde/Alliance conflict emphasis really killed this expansion for me (since it just seemed way too forced). I just can't justify the conflict when it largely seems to boil down to Garrosh having a stick up his ***. :P

Though I'll definitely grant that no large-scale threat is key to establishing interfaction warfare without it seeming absurd.

No, definitely not.

But you could put ANY person on Stormwind's throne, and war would still be inevitable because Garrosh is such a prick. That's not true the other way around. Varian's conditions for a truce might not have been realistic (for instance, I doubt he would have even considered accepting the Horde while the Forsaken were still with them). But he's not lusting for war just for war's sake. He sees the Horde as a legitimate threat. Garrosh sees the Alliance as a bunch of weaklings and feels justified in crushing them as a result.

If Thrall (as he is at the end of this expac especially) was put back on the Horde's throne, I could definitely see the war ending. Especially since most Alliance rulers don't want to war with him... Hell, a few significant Alliance leaders attended his wedding ceremony...

If you consider a situation in which disaster was over and he, the world's savior, was leading the Horde... It seems fair to think that peace would have broken out.

Just thinking that if some stupid conflict is going to be the main theme of the expansion, now that the 2 previous expansions made us see the respective other side, not only Pandas should be allowed to pick a side.

This would have made perfect sense really. After shattering the world as it was, the same thing should have happend to the old alliances.

Level 85-90 should just be one big huge questline that'll lead you to a truly meaningful decision at the end.

This obviously won't work since it would destroy existing guilds as well. But still...

In the real world, the Cold War has ended, and we're just now getting to find out that people sitting on different sides of the fence aren't all that different in their needs and desires, regardless of whatever our big leaders have told us in the past. United we took care of villains like Hussein and most recently Gadhafi. Blizzcon even coincided with Obama's announcement to finally bring US troops home from Iraq. In Europe we're debating whether or not we should just kick a couple countries out of the Union, which in turn negatively affects economies worldwide. You have people demonstrating against banks, stock markets, or capitalism in general.

So where is my choice in all this? And how does all this real wold crap fit into a video game?

I'm tired of Varian's BS, and I sure as hell won't be raging war against Horde just because he says so. Garrosh is a prick, and as long as I am looking at "Goblin Slums" he can kiss my *** as well.

Don't know. Maybe instead of adding fancy weapon models, they should include some protest signs so I could walk in circles in front of Stormwind Keep and voice my protest against the **** going on. Do some squatting in front of the auction houses to prevent people from buying gold using thier companion pets...

Guess it's time to invest some gold into hops and bamboo plantations since both factions will have to feed their pandaren troops. Make some fancy profit out of the coming conflict like it's done in the real world too.

This would be a damn good time to be a goblin, and somehow Blizzard probably missed the opportunity to introduce a neutral faction for those that can't be bothered.

Keep the old "Orcs vs. Humans" or get back to it, whatever, but let me pick a side, dammit!

I doubt we'll be going to war just on their say so. The foundations of renewed conflict are already there, with the reins of atrocity sometimes held by other faction leaders.

I'm specifically thinking of Sylvannas' use of the plague in the assault on Gilneas, despite Garrosh specifically ordering her not to. I get the feeling that the Alliance response will be equally brutal. If it were me, I'd bust out the Mana Bombs.

You DO get to pick a side, by being a Pandaren.

The only problem is, the choosing is kind of forced upon you. You MUST choose one or the other.

This even somewhat makes sense for a race that hasn't had any business with either Horde or Alliance before, and thus doesn't know what has been going on over the years.

Other than the asian theme of the expansion, the story seems to be damn near that of Japan, who didn't care about opening up to the western world until the 1850's sometime.

Gilneas is a lot like China used to be. Build a big fat wall and mind your own business for as long as you can. Then choose what appears to be the lesser of 2 evils.

I'd just prefer having a choice for those who had to put up with whatever their factions decided to do in the past. Azeroth has changed now, but you're still getting to experience Outland and Northrend, and with that an idea of how your leaders used to handle things in the past.

And well, if you don't like either one of them, you could still be a pirate, right? Steamwheedle would have been an awesome new faction for those who don't really care about the Horde vs Alliance stuff anymore and just want to make a living.

I think part of the problem, for me, is that race disputes just aren't interesting. They're really frickin' depressing, and I don't want to fight to support them. And, at the end of the day, that's what you are doing. Most of the races could be really friendly with an opposing race, if they didn't have this forced conflict storyline.

Now, if they made the war about ideologies, it would be much more persuasive--you'd be more willing to "fight" for your side. Like the Old Republic is about supporting very different political ideologies (though many players are going to think of it as good/evil, when they shouldn't). Rift is about two factions with very different approaches to deities and technology. Etc.

Those conflicts are interesting, and I'm willing to take a stand. That's not the case with WoW--I have no interest in killing Orcs just because my leader's a racist (or because theirs is and they are following his orders).

If they were to break the factions down into political organizations, rather than racial ones, I'd be far more interested in the conflict. But you'd need to be able to have some racial freedom to do that (which could either involve "choosing" or it could involve them creating new racial groups within each faction--like if they made a group of Blood Elf separatists loyal to the ALliance).

The OP was pretty funny :)

I can't even look at the o-boards lately. Just a pile of crap. Lots of posters who think that the fact that they have mastered sentence structure and can form basic arguments feeling like that gives them some sort of importance. The fkin Internet has empowered so many people and given them the false idea that anyone cares what they have to say...

What those etards don't realize is that no one cares what they write. In fact, they have only one thing of value, and one thing capable of speaking on their behalf - their money. At the end of the day, every player will either buy the expac, or won't, and will either continue a WoW sub, or won't. That is the only feedback that matters.

Most people who read forums are immune to QQ by now. We all adapted to that a long time ago...

And in all honesty - if you were playing WoW because you thought it was a "mature, adult-oriented" MMO, you were etarded to begin with.

Wars are not always fought for good reasons.

I wouldn't try to think too far into the future of why you think the Alliance and Horde are going to war... considering no one knows a concrete reason of what causes the drums of war to happen inbetween 4.3 and MoP.

I believe Chilton said something about the Horde laying waste to Theramore right before MoP, but I don't remember seeing the why.

There has been a lot of talk that the war is over land and resources, and everyone knows that actual wars have been fought over just that in the past. From what I remember from History class (and the History channel)... sometimes it doesn't matter who you are... but what you have that causes wars.
