I know I shouldn't report this here if it's already in the DK forums, but somebody has to have had this same issue. Or if not you can all tell me there is no issue and i'm just imagining it like that giant pink elephant with the purple spots I see sometimes.

I am having a problem on my DK with a rune regeneration glitch that happens at the same point in my rotation.

It happens every time I am re-applying diseases and it also happens in the first rune cycle, so that is what I will reference.

My DK is only level 60, levelling as 2h Frost. Here's how I open a fight right now:

IT > PS > Oblit > Oblit > FS.

What happens is, when that 2nd Oblit uses both of my death runes, only 1 of them starts regenerating. The other one doesn't start regenerating for approximately 7 seconds. I don't know if something is triggering it to start regenerating or what, but it always seems to be about 7 seconds.

I used to have this problem back in the day when we had to BS/BS to turn our blood runes into death runes and then use them for an extra Oblit in the 2nd half of the rune cycle.

Anybody else seen this?

Runes of the same type don't regen at the same time. If both of your runes of the same type are expended, then one of them regens followed by the second once the first is fully refreshed. Since you are frost, this holds true since your Death Runes came from your Blood Runes and are considered to be the same type.

I have never heard that before. Where do you get this information from?

Oh, and I've seen 2 frost and 2 unholy runes regenning at the same time, and my 2 blood runes (back when they were blood runes), but never the 2 death runes.

This change happened with 4.0.1. You can read more about the rune system and how it works here.

I also got my information from playing a DK pre and post Cata. Before runes of the same type would refresh at the same time. After Cata, runes of the same type would not refresh until the first one that was on cooldown was usable. There are also skills such as Runic Empowerment that will randomly refresh a rune completely or a talent for Unholy called Runic Corruption that will lower the time of your rune regeneration by half.

See, now that confuses me even more because I remember having this same issue before 4.0 came out. And by before 4.0 I mean way back in the beginning of Wrath when DKs first came out.

That was likely an actual bug at the time. However, it's now "working as intended."

I dont know if it has been corrected or not, but I quite remember several DKs complaining about bugs in Runes in Cata.
You should probably google it or just check EJ. Im sure there is something about it out there in the wild.

My DK is my 4th or 5th 85 so I don't play him much, but I haven't noticed any problems with runes regenerating. The switch to one-at-a-time happened with patch 4.0.1:

* A dedicated tanking tree (Blood) has been implemented.

* The effects of Blood Presence and Frost Presence have been exchanged.

* The way in which runes recharge has changed.

Kinda non-specific about what the changes are, but there was a long post in the DK forums about it (I think). In any case, WoW Insider does a decent job explaining it.

Well, I suppose I should have read the patch notes when I bought Cata in February.

Thanks for clearing that up.
