This got me thinking. I don't want to see a bunch of people in dresses and bunny ears fighting a huge dragon. Being able to change any tier set to the model of a previous however would be so goddamn cool. I approve of this.

Patch 4.3 - Deathwing, Transmogrifier, Void Storage
Tom Chilton (Kalgan) answered a couple of questions from Gamona.de on Patch 4.3, and we got a bunch of very interesting news out of it. Patch 4.3 will feature:

New Raid - The Deathwing raid, making it very likely to be the last patch before the next expansion.
3 new 5-man instances - Including one in the Caverns of Time. (War of the Ancients was mentioned as a cataclysm instance a few years ago, but a lot of things have changed since then, who knows!)
The Transmogrifier NPC, which will let you change the appearance of any armor piece on you, while retaining the stats of your current gear. (= T12 stats, but with the Tier 2 look!)
Players won't be able to change the appearance of their armor into another armor type or class armor set, and you might have to own the armor before you can use it to swap the appearance of your existing armor.

The Void Storage is a new type of bank where players will be able to store their old armors in order to free up space in their regular bank.
The Abyssal Maw dungeon is gone for the moment, the storyline wasn't convincing enough/fitting.

I'm kind of mixed on whether or not you have to have obtained the armor previously to have said style available. One argument is that those who have worked for it should be given the bonus. It would add another lair layer of things to do.

Another interesting spin might be to make tier armor sets require the achievement of completing the associated raid (where possible). This would give a REAL incentive to running the old raids which may be good.

That way the special armor sets will have been "earned" so to speak instead of just giving everyone access to everything (that and in the future as new content becomes obsolete making it automatically available).

I'm kind of disappointed there will be no Abyssal Maw. I was interested in seeing a water based raid. It could have had some interesting mechanics.

EDIT: Darn phonetic spelling.

Possibly good news for those who kept umpteen old tier sets in the bank. Bad news for those who finally threw away most of that old stuff. WoW 4.3 run old stuff for the achievements, fun and fashion!

5 new instances sounds ambitious. All good stuff really imo.

I think it would only make sense to have the original piece obtained somehow before being able to use the model. But it's certainly not much of an achievement considering that you can very much solo the old raids.

A different story, though, if they wouldn't stop with armor. A legendary weapon would be truly legendary if you could continue to use the model at least. Right now it's a shame that you're putting in all the effort to own something that's really only good for looks and has no practical use anymore the moment the level cap is raised.

There is just too much of a difference between a randomly dropped tier token and all the pain involved in building a legendary.

They've stated that this will work with weapons. So you can certainly use Dragonwrath's model well into the next expansion if you want.

They are now saying that Legendaries can not be the target or the recipient of the effect. So legendaries are going to be legendary and unique.

Me? I'm sticking with Anathema, baby. Now I just have to decide what to turn my gear into... T6? T2? T5? T4? Something else?

So my druid maces can become Sulfuras, my staves can become Terestian's Stranglestaff, anyone have a nifty-looking polearm I should hunt down?

I think you misread that somewhere. Weapons have to stay within their type, such as 1h mace to 1h mace, except for bows and guns, which can be swapped. But legionaries would not be allowed.

I would go with a cool Scythe.
#39 Aug 17 2011 at 4:28 PM Rating: Good
See now that just reminds me of the awesome scythe I got on my lock from Felwood back in the day. Damn it, none of my casters have staves... I need to work on that. =x

Okay, went back and looked at the old tier sets. They haven't said for sure whether you have to obtain the gear first before you can change your equipment to look like it... but regardless, I'd go for either tier 5 or tier 3 on my priest. I know that technically tier 3 isn't available in game anymore, but I like the colors better than the tier 7. So I'm hoping they'll let us change that at least.

Gives me hope that I'll be able to keep the look I like on my 'lock.
I believe it's the Aurora "set" that he's in... it's an outfit, and I try to remember to swap to it when I'm in town but it's hard, I've sold a couple pieces a couple times now just when I want to make bag space then have to pick them up again. But a dark beastly 'lock in an all white outfit? I like it.

Also have to go back and get some plate sets for the girl paladin, she was rocking some thigh highs and belly baring things for a while, but an upgraded piece of gear broke the look and I got tired of carrying the gear.

Oooh part of that was a quest reward gear, wonder if that will be open as she's got loremaster for the zone.

Always liked Fordragon Blades, and it would be easy enough to get one back too.

#44 Aug 17 2011 at 11:42 PM Rating: Good
Already have two pieces of T6, which is also pretty cool looking. Smiley: grin And there's another BT run this weekend... I still want to collect some T5 and T7 too though.

I won't have to go back that far, really. The current honor PvP set looks plain awesome on my dwarf, even though at this point I only have shoulders and gloves. Really like the colors, and you can even get a matching shield. In fact, it's the only reason why I even bother with PvP right now. There is an AV weekend coming up soon, and I have plans for it :)
