. . . but I want to roll a new toon on Emerald Dream. All my toons are horde so I'm considering an alliance for the new experience factor. If you were in my predicament, what class/race combination would you choose to do all over again?

This isn't a tell me what to play thread, I just want to hear what class people would love enough to level more than once.

Go!

A shockadin. Female Dwarf is what I'd do.

Darn you beat me to it... Smiley: lol

I rerolled on a new server when my old guild fell apart post-WotLK. I started a shockadin as my first character. A female dwarf shockadin to be more precise...

I was looking for something a little more unusual to play, and it seemed to fit the bill nicely; given that hybrid stuff isn't possible anymore, and there aren't many female dwarfs running around. Dual spec'd with a more typical holy build for dungeons, and haven't looked back. Smiley: smile

Though I do divide my time between a frost mage and a prot warrior as well.

Night Elf Hunter. Millions can't be wrong, right?

For practical reasons, your first character on a new server should be a death knight to help you get started, instead of having to start from level 1.

Though I suppose that doesn't mean quite as much as it used to, with 1-60 being so easy after the Cataclysm, but would still save you a little time and start you with a few gold starter cash, so that you could get into Mining/Skinning/Herbing right away.

I would level another priest, but that's just me.

I've tried other stuff but I keep coming back to hunters, preferably elves (of either faction). The pets give you a solid advantage if you mostly play solo, whether by choice or by lack of a group to play with. Also, I like the stand off style. melee can get confusing as hell, especially in dungeons which aren't exactly the best lighted venues to begin with. Being able to stand off and pick shots, or easily change targets if someone else needs help, and all the messy blood or ichor gets on someone else. Even though I dual-talent my guys, I seem to play in markmanship mode most of the time.

Rogue. But I'm biased.

Nothing beats stealth, to me. You get to plan your attacks, retreat before defeat, and control the flow of the game more than on any other character solo.

But, again, I'm biased.

Go!

I have 2 Shaman at 85 and another at 82 - I also have a couple of lower level ones scattered about. The three above level 80 are all enhancement spec as well. It is the class and spec that I find the easiest and most comfortable to level up.

I do try varying the classes I start on other servers but I always seem to end up pushing Shamans, Warriors and Hunters the farthest. For some reason, I find those three classes to be the easiest for me to level.

Great responses guys, rate ups :)

I'm leaning toward Rogue or Warrior right now. I have an 85 rogue but I don't want to transfer it and lose my name and stuff. Warrior would be great because well, what would be more awesome than whirlwinding a group of unsuspecting RPers ? :D
Woosh woosh woosh! /grin

While I haven't leveled a shockadin post 4.2 I do know the changes to denounce seriously hurt my holy Pally's dps to the point I respeced out of it. :(

My Pally is only level 45 or so, but I haven't noticed much of a difference in dps with her.

I couldn't comment on a DPS loss or anything. Stuff still dies reasonably fast when soloing (I'm only in the low 60s). I miss the instant cast procs, but making a mob unable to crit you has been pretty cool as well. Overall it still seems pretty powerful for a healing spec.

On a new server I'd always start with a druid. It's the only class that can fill every role, so it offers the most flexibility. Different forms and all keep leveling pretty interesting too.

Started a Worgen Warlock in Cata, and that too is kinda nice because you have your different pets as milestones as you go.

I've played every class except DK to 79+, but it's the druid that I like the most, and am actively leveling more than one of them. I play feral cat and having flight form is convenient for herbalism and skinning. Currently have my NE, Tauren and Worgen druids running around on the same realm, and might create a Troll one as well. It would be great if I could roll a gnome druid, then in human form it's more difficult for people to target you. Meow!

That is adorable. Though I still think that the new horde druid should have been blood elves, not trolls.

Paladin, because you can level it 4 different ways so it never gets old.

I really, really enjoyed rolling my warrior. He chews through mobs, gets insta-queues for dungeons (and thus gears up nicely), and has little to no down time with the new self-healing goodness. A far cry from the very first warrior I rolled just before BC (my first toon). He was a pain to level, but things are light years better now.

Roll warrior, go prot, pick up mining and herbing. Yahtzee!

Cheers,
Jorge
