WOW works well. but smaller file size games are slow?! why?!Follow

Basically i have recently installed wow on my pc and it works amazing almost no lag, however when i play a game that file is smaller its rubbish and really laggy. -- this makes no sense> why is this happening, why does wow run fast when others dont?

Because WoW is optimized to run on a toaster (or worse, my 11 year old PC). Other games base their marketing on bleeding-edge graphics and end up with a whole bunch of extras that make CPUs cry for tiny effect.

The World of Warcraft folder is huge because the game is huge. Your computer doesn't load the entire game, though.

Even without in-game loading times (except when entering instances and switching continents), your computer loads the scenery in portions when you get within range. That's why, if you fly high up, the ground disappears in a fog. That's called drawing distance. You'll notice that grass and trees disappear before the hills and stuff.

If this drawing distance didn't exist then your computer would have to load and process every single tree, grass straw, player, building and animal in the game, all the time, all at once. You'd find that despite the game being ancient by modern standards, it would turn your Sandy Bridge monster rig into a pile of molten steel and crispy plastic.

It runs pretty well on a curling iron too.

Also, apart from the already given information (which are all totally accurate), bad programming can result in a laggy experience. Heck, I've played some truly atrocious "free" games which crashed my computer outright.

Not to be cliché, but size really does not matter.
