I was actually surprised that Cataclysm featured a low level facelift. Sure, level 1-60 take up a good chunk of the game, but to invest that much time to updating it tells me that they're going to keep World of Warcraft running in case Titan falls through.

I'm anxious to see what Titan will be. They say it'll be different from World of Warcraft so as to not steal subscribers, but I can't imagine what that would be. Blizzard has only ever produced role-playing and real-time strategy games. Maybe Titan will be an isometric game. Like an MMO Diablo or something.

Anyway, I'm just waiting for Star Wars: The Old Republic to be released so I can figure out if I love or hate it. Here's hoping it's a free roam game like the old Galaxies was. If it's more like Guild Wars, I'll stab someone.

I don't have a source, but I remember hearing something about Titan being a future-based (scifi) FPS/MMO. But then again that might have just been a rumor. I can't recall where I heard it. I swear it was somewhere on these forums.

Wait a minute, StarCraft: Ghost is relaunched as an MMO?

That would be awesome, though odd.

I know, could you imagine raiding in first person with grenade launchers and automatic lazer guns? I would SO sign up.

Blizzard is very good at keeping things secret. All we've heard for certain at this point is that it is a new universe mmo independent from the Diablo and *craft universes.

Rumor has it that it is going to be scifi. Further rumors are that it'll be FPS. But about the only thing we know for sure is that it's an MMO that's not Starcraft/Warcraft/Diablo, and that it's been in development for a very long time at this point.

Though Mengsk as a boss would be kind of cool, I guess.

Edit: From the wiki:

Quote:
In the past Kaplan, who revealed that he is involved in the project, was asked if the game's genre would be science fiction, post-apocalyptic, or historical, and while laughing he responded: "all of those combined!".

Also, according to some job listings and some inside sources the game will be a Sci Fi/fantasy MMO:

It's been a while since I've went back and read/listened to anything about Titan, but Blizzard allegedly hired most of Bungie (the guys that made halo). Also, Titan was the name assigned to Halo before it released, all those years ago. So, possibly looking at a Halo MMO, or something very similar, as Microsoft now owns the Halo IP.

Titan was the code name of the Halo MMO that got canceled (oh yeah, there were plans for this), not the first Halo game. But that was most likely just coincidence.

Incidentally, the Halo MMO was being made by Ensemble Studios, the guys behind Age of Mythology and Age of Empires, not the Halo series. They made Halo Wars, but that's it. Bungie wasn't ever really involved.

What's interesting is that Ensemble's Project Titan, the Halo MMO, was meant to be a "WoW killer" (source).

The MMO had been in production for three years before it was canceled, and allegedly had a budget of $90 million. It was going to be big. But then the Wii was a smash hit, Microsoft decided it wanted a slice of the casual pie, and Ensemble's Titan was canceled.

Honestly, the name similarity was just a coincidence. What's interesting is that when Ensemble Studios shut down in '09, Blizzard did pick up quite a few of those employees themselves. So it's entirely possible that Blizzard's Titan will have some of the same people working on it.

Weird how things work out, huh?

Can't really see any of my character's asses; the capes are too long.

Am I the only one who has the cape disabled on every character? I find them ugly as sin and to completely class with the rest of the outfit.

Maybe if they pit PhysX on them.

Also, this post took forever to type on my iPhone. I'm drunk and had to go back and edit pretty much every word.

I like some of the cloaks. I hated the 359 spirit cloaks. They looked like an easter egg barfed on them or something. The other 359 caster cloaks, the periwinkle/ER 346 cloaks, and the new Firelands rep cloaks I love. Then again, I really like purple so my opinion may be biased. They'll totally clash with the orange of most of the casters' gear, but oh well.

Shadowform makes everything match.

Very good point! Although honestly it kind of makes me sad that shadow form is so... encompassing? It's not quite as bad as the different druid forms of course, but I actually like showing off my gear. When it matches. Right now I think I look ridiculous with my toilet bowl shoulders and teal gloves and orange robe/belt.

You're not.
The cloaks very rarely look good, they tend to cut into the characters at random times and most importantly, they hide the sweet *** I made the character for in the first place! Smiley: tongue

I hide it only on my rogue.

I periodically disable the cape. It depends on which one I have, and how mismatched the gear is. Same goes with helms (almost always disabled) and tabards (for when nothing matches).

As for the *** viewing, I settle for it because looking at the front means I run into walls and such while traveling. Smiley: frown

I disable hats on every female character, and cloaks on every female character or character with a 2-hander strapped to its back.

My son is getting old enough to start showing an interest in online games (oh noes!) and today he showed me a youtube of Aion character creation. While I have no interest in playing Aion...all I know is that it's a game similar to WoW...I was really in awe of the complete customization you have over your character there. /cry

for anyone interested in seeing the world of difference between the two games.
