Firelands Dailies have been sped up it seems.Follow

So today I dusted off my Blacksmith, figuring that I should get him at least as far as the Armorer for the recipes for when they eventually unbind the Chaos Orbs.

I had never touched Firelands Dailies before on this character, and upon completing the first few quests, I found that I immediately had the 20 Marks of the World Tree to turn in to open up the Firelands Portal and the Dailies inside the Portal (Burn Victims, Smothervines, etc).

Before, I remember having to quest for 4 days (had 5 at the end of the first day, got 5 each day after for a total 4/20 on Day 1).

Also, turning in the quest that sets up the large tree inside the Firelands also awarded me 15 Marks of the World Tree, equivalent of one day of daily questing.

So, on Day 1 of Firelands Dailies with my Blacksmith, I have everything up to the point where you grind seals for the Talon Druids and the Shadow Wardens + 25 seals on me, saving me roughly 5-6 days of daily questing.

I found that a nice cool point, allows people to play catchup, especially if they have a ton of alts they haven't done Firelands dailies with yet.

It is also a nice way to get Fresh 85s 1-2 pieces of 365 gear (plus the Cape if you do Thrall's quest).

Yup. Not sure when they changed this, but I was able to get the neck piece for both my druid and my mage in the last week or so. Now if only I could get motivated to do the dailies on my priest...

Might as well vent this here, but I hate the fact that you need to retake the tower every day AND watch as it is torn apart by the giant vine.

I mean, I love the fact that they worked in phase progression, so you really feel involved. And this just ruins that feeling. If you'd like me to retake the spire every day, fine. But at least leave it broken apart and just tell me that the spiders and druids keep pushing us back...

I completely agree. If a phase change is temporary have the story account for it at the very least.

Maybe they are really just that good at rebuilding that they rebuild it in a day.

And if you don't like that, recruit the Druids of the Talon and do their dailies instead.

In fact, if you ever want to get the Bombing Run achievement, you are pretty much forced to do that anyways, as there's what? 6? 8? different named Fire Elementals you must bomb for that achievement (and this achievement is required for the Meta) and you only get a chance at a bombing run quest once every two days.

So better get started now, eh?

Now too bad they don't tell you this in-game before you choose between Wardens and Druids, eh?

I did Wardens first--just did Druids for the first time yesterday. >.<

Their quests are definitely more annoying, though...

I thought that at first, but after a day or two when you get used to them, they are about the same.

Every other day instead of hatchlings, you get one of the other quests (PRAY it is the BOMBING quest!), and sometimes instead of Thermometers they will want Ash from the dogs in the cave (easy easy easy) and the only constant is killing the Fire Hawks which is easy to do.

When Ash and Bombing Run are up, I think the Talon is easier than Shadow Wardens.

Only thing is, I think they ought to tweak that first quest a little, I could imagine how my Prot Warrior would have serious issues trying to make it up that ramp without getting killed. Not enough DPS to actually kill one of those guys before moving onto the next to activate Victory Rush and no real healing otherwise, but maybe I'm just being paranoid. He's not a main so I don't really need the bombing run achievement anyways. Probably do it only once just to unlock Tholo's quest.

I got 12 marks on day 1, then 4 on day 2 and 3. By day 4, they had hot-fixed the quest so you got 16 instead of 8 for the initial non-repeatable quests, and thus could get into the Molten Front in a single day. The 15 bonus tokens were there on day 3 when I got my warrior into FL, which is the earliest you could get in without the dailies glitching.

They saved everyone 2 days of questing because, really, it was kind of disappointing running around the first day only to find out you had 2 more days in Hyjal before you could even see the new zone.

Really?

Hmm, must be bad memory then, but yeah, I'm glad they hotfixed it.

Not only was there disappointment that you don't even see the new zone on the first day, but also, you're wanting a way to make money (or Guild XP), and 4 quests just isn't going to make you any money.

Fourteen quests, however, will make a decent amount if you pair it up with something like Tol Barad.

It seems my first Druid day got all the more annoying quests then, so hopefully it'll get better.

I can't say I enjoy the flame escort quest. As much as I hate the tower quest, it's at least fast and simple.

You mean, following a druid who walks slowly for about a minute, minute and a half, while killing 5 mobs and a bigger guy? That's a lot less annoying than the hatchlings, or the bombing when you're behind someone that tags all the molten lords but doesn't kill them. No, you don't get credit if someone else tags them, but you have to kill them anyway to get them to respawn.

I didn't have any issue with the lords--I spent enough time in the cave trying to do each quest that I killed way more than what was necessary (and I'm considering respeccing my DK to Blood. There is so much AoE damage going around in the MF, that he's always attacking something else anyway. And the additional healing would be nice).

And yeah, that's the quest I mean. It itself is fine in theory. Takes longer than the warden equivalent, but whatever. My problem is that lag and low particle density settings made it super annoying. It was hard to see where the fire began and even when I was certain I was standing in a safe zone, the game disagreed with my client.

And that fire HURTS.

Literally took 2 corpse runs to do the quest.

The first time I did the quest, I thought you had to stand in wind swirls with the druid, so I lost about half my health to fire damage. Once I realized there's a pretty large area between where the fires have been put out and where they start respawning, and that's where I'm supposed to stand, it went okay. I don't think it's any slower than the warden side, but I only have 1 character I'm actually doing all the dailies with right now, so it's not easy to compare.

I died once that way as well, but that's not what I meant. I have no clue why, but I keep getting damaged even when I'm DEFINITELY fine client-side. But I've been having significant issues in the MF (that don't exist anywhere else). My latency always says it's fine, but I suspect that Blizz's servers are getting too bogged down with so many people in one spot, especially since they are all using abilities and moving around.

The weird part about this daily in particular is that the damage isn't constant. Like I might get hit with the DoT, but then not, without moving. But staying still another few seconds might get me hit again.

It's REALLY irritating. I might just do the shadow wardens from now on...
