Weird mouseover macro issue.Follow

#1 Jul 10 2011 at 6:14 AM Rating: Good
I use a naga lachesis mouse, and in the interest of doing away with clique, I started using mouseover macros. Now, the issue I've been having is that if I bind the macros to mouse buttons and not keybinds, when I am in a group they flat out don't work. If I'm soloing, they do. I have no idea why this is, but I'd really love to fix it. Anyone know what could be causing this?

Let us see this macro, then we can give pointers.

They're all pretty basic. Something along the lines of:

Quote:
#showtooltip
/cast [target=mouseover] Spell

I've tried moving around a few different macros, and none of them appear to work on my mouse buttons while in a group. If I move them to a standard keybind, they work fine either way.

How are you assigning the keybind?

Also:

#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover] Spell

Do you have clique uninstalled. I know that it can enable or disable your ability to "mouseover" based on being in a party or not; as well as other conditionals.

Firstly, use:

/cast [@mouseover,exists,nodead][] HealTherionsPetSpellName

This will only cast on your mouseover target it there is on and it's not dead (you can add "help" or "harm" as well). The empty brackets let it function like normal if there is no qualified mouseover target (on your target if you have one, or your toon if all else fails).

Secondly, I've never had to turn on or off Cliques "mouseover function" to use these types of macros, but I have seen it in raid frames. Make sure your raid/party frame addon is set properly.

Thirdly, xoxo.

Key bindings are assigned with bartender. I did have clique still installed, so that might have been the issue. I hadn't thought of that. I did uninstall it last night though before I went to bed. I'll try that first and see if it works now. If it doesn't, I'll try one of these other mouseover macros and see if they work better.

@ Therion: MY PET NEEDS HEALING!!!! Smiley: grin I'm still tempted to steal Bette's macro for his shadowfiend lol. Just haven't gotten around to it yet. Also, xoxo right back at ya.

Now with clique uninstalled, if I move the mouseover to a mouse button (MB5 is what I did)it doesn't work at all now. I tried both Horse's and Therion's versions and neither worked. Soon as I put it back to a standard keybind though (Shift+A) it works fine.

I use grid for raid and party frames. Is there something I need to turn on to enable this? It's not a huge deal, it's more a minor annoyance than anything else.

It's probably the mouse buttons being bound to "Click 5" or "Button7" or something. Try setting a mouse button to a keystroke in the mouse control panel and see if that changes it. Be sure to restart.

Also, just for kicks, try going into bartender bar config mode and unhide the bar with your binds on them if it's hidden. Then set that bars opacity to zero.

I meant to ask.. Did Clique do something to you to make you want to stop using it? I used it with out an issue for healing and caster dps. Something get broken? Seems like alot of trouble to get into to replace something that works.

Yes actually. For whatever reason, I could not get my clique binding for PWS to work. I had it bound to shift+left mouse button. Every other spell on other characters I had worked with that bindings, but not my shield. Plus it seemed silly to use an addon for something I could do with a macro. Memory isn't an issue for me on my pc, but it is on my laptop (although I avoid doing anything significant like healing on my laptop anyways).
