My main concern would be if alot of people still play eq2?

Yup, lots of people still play!

How did it cut off when you tried to play? If you are using the streaming client, that could be the cause. Personally I'd recommend trying out the Station Launcher for the game; the initial download is longer, but it gets the whole game in so you don't have other possible issues: http://launcher.station.sony.com/

The most populated server currently is Antonia Bayle, which is also one of the two roleplay servers.

Hope that helps, feel free to ask more and welcome to EQ2! :)

First of all, punctuation and spelling are your friends. I had to read your first sentence three times before I understood it! Here is how it reads:

Seriously, learn to punctuate!

Now to your questions. Yes lots of people still play. Not 11 million (like WoW) but seriously, would you be likely to notice anything beyond say a couple thousand on a server?

The reason the trial didn't run on your computer was that you didn't have enough computer. EQ2 has MUCH higher requirements than WoW does and running one does not mean you can run the other. In order to play EQ2 you will need:
1) a fast CPU
2) a very good video card
3) LOTS of ram

And finally, the busiest servers are Antonia Bayle (commonly called AB) and Lucan DeLere (commonly called LDL)

Welcome and good luck.

That is odd, perhaps those were just the preferred servers when you logged in. I know for fact that trial accounts can pick any server (this way you can play with your friends) when you first log in.

I believe there are only 2 EU servers. But you can change your region on the patcher and play on the North American servers, where there are more. On the patcher, there's a place to change regions. Or if you're using the Station Launcher you have to go in and change the language.

Someone said Antonia Bayle server was actually full the other day, Crushbone is also pretty well populated (Heavy load on peak hours). Nagafen is the pvp server and has a large population, might not be a good server to learn the game on though.

You might want to check out your playing hours if you want to switch to the US servers, although I played for years on US server and had plenty of people on to play with, on other occasions very few were on. It also depends on your playing style, if you don't need to be in a group all the time it doesn't matter much, although new players can benefit a lot from advice and aid from old timers.

As for computer requirements, EQII is tough on a computer, although you don't need a new state of the art machine either though, if the game will not start at all, it could be a vid card problem, either really insufficient for the game or not supported. You seem to get online now, judging from your second post.
