average platFollow

#1 May 02 2009 at 4:45 PM Rating: Decent
Hi everyone, i wanted to search for this because im sure someone has asked in the past...but it says only premium accounts can...
I was just curious on average how much Platinum people have in EQII...not counting on exchange severs if you bought it all lol. Like say for a level 70-80 character? If people want to just post how much they have...or what they think the average is. Thanks!

Actually Im sure that a the various "companies" that make a real world living selling plat in game can give you a typical average.

I average about 9-20 plat in my shared bank box typically. But, I play on a PvP server where some of the most common money making techniques are a lot more difficult. I also do not raid more than once or twice a month. So, I suspect most PvE players average much more than me.

My monk has a hole in his hand, always spending money to finish collection quests and on a very rare occasion get an armour upgrade or spell upgrade (finally found monk heal spell at master level last week, only took me three years).

Unfortunately, as I rarely group, never raid, don't craft, I just don't have all that much income. Just vendor trash, dropped spells and collection items. I'm close to having 60pp at this moment, which is an absolute record.

Considering I started this toon years ago, it really isn't a lot of money.

Also, you can get a very good carpet in Lavastorm, with the Order of the Flame, for only 6pp and unfortunately 50.000 faction status, although that is done in a matter of days due to a lot of quests.

I know of other players who have thousands of pp, either through crafting or really knowing how to play the market.

I'm sorry but this made me laugh. I got the carpet mount within a few hours, solo. Granted thats what us Necro's do best.

Thanks everyone for your replies so far. At first i was in the Everquest 1 forum and i thought it was the eq 2 forum for a few minutes..and i saw a poll there for how much plat people had...and most people had around 50,000....and i was scared lol. I never played eq 1 that much, but i guess it must be really easy to make money or something lol. Its good to know that i am not super poor! I have about 108 right now, and have made around 200 total i think, maybe a bit more. But i am a saving freak. Ive pretty much only spent it on my mount, my house, house items, and some collection quest items. That is on a level 76 character. I have pretty much been focusing on leveling too..not on making platinum.

oh yeah...i forgot to add that i play on a pvp server as well. So annoying. I dont really like pvp. But my friend wanted me to play on that server and i just got higher and higher in level and now thats my main character and its too late :( hehe. I died yesterday in one hit, didnt even see the person..grr..
I guess it does add a bit of a challenge which is nice..but can be very frustrating at times, especially if you dont have a group.

ps. Anyone who has hundreds of extra platinum sitting around that they have no use for..can donate it to me...i will ummm give it to the homeless in North Qeynos...or something. haha just kidding.

I'm just a lonely monk though, doing those quests alone takes some time. That and there were a lot of people doing the same quests, true I should have just grouped up with them as there aren't really drops from those void beasts in Lavastorm to fight over in a pug. (I do wonder how many other classes get a oneshotkill spell against non heroics, shame it's on a long timer lol)

You wanna talk a long time?

Heh, try leveling up tinkering enough to get the mount that they can make, and there are two. one's a 45% and one is a 55%

Now THATS a long time.

We have a top-level guild hall with nearly all amenities ... upkeep about 25 plat per week! NOBODY has any money! :D
#18 May 05 2009 at 5:44 AM Rating: Excellent
The most I have ever had at one time is about 120p. Currently I'm sitting at a hair over 100p, across all my characters. Not great, but it keeps all my characters in at least full Adept III's with a smattering of Masters.

Making money in the game isn't difficult, you just have to focus on doing it, sometimes to the detriment of other things (like fun). :D

I make plat and spend it just as fast. But as of now I have 250P in shared bank because I haven't started a new Alt lol.

The economy in EQ2 is a lot more relaxed from my perspective. This would probably be due to having a "broker" and being able to sell things offline, the demand is always met (though the price can still get steep for certain items). In EQ1 I typically had around 10,000 pp amongst all my toons. Not anywhere near wealthy but enough to live within my means.

I would say I typically have around 30pp in my shared bank. The most I've had at one time was 80.

Plat is a lot easier to come by in EQ1. Someone having many thousands of plat is not uncommon. Hell, little level 1 n00b zone rats can drop vendor loots that sell for 1p each. Also, the currency in EQ1 is only on a scale of tens (10c = 1s, 10s = 1g, 10g = 1p) as opposed to EQ2 which is on a hundreds scale.

What are the tinkered mounts again?
#24 May 05 2009 at 1:13 PM Rating: Decent
Tinkered mounts are not that hard to get leveled up for. If you have a guild with a well supplied supply depot, or have about 50p to spend, you can do it in about a week or so, depending on how long you work on it every day. I got to 400 in about a month.

The mounts look like clouds that you ride on.

I started playing again after a couple of years of not playing and was a bit shocked to see t8 brig masters going for 100-200 plat on average.. I have about 80 plat on me now because I've been saving every bit I can to mastered out.
