WTB: More Tradable DropsFollow

#1 Apr 27 2009 at 6:25 AM Rating: Decent
Anyone else get frustrated with the number of actually tradable items that drop in game now? In all the TSO zones, I don't think there are any items legendary or above that are actually tradable. That use to be a great way of earning some coin or helping to gear out an alt, but now seems like everything ends up greed rolled cause few can use it and either sold to a merchant or transmuted. I know the gear is not exceptional, but I have always enjoyed having a couple pieces sitting waiting for an alt to level to be able to use it. There doesn't seem to be much reason to keep legendary items no-trade.

What do you think on here? Are you satisfied that most gear now is no-trade?

But with void shards being heirlooms you can still obtain gear for your other chars. I had the full set of T1 armor in my monks bag until he hit lvl 80. Most groups i've been in also dont care if you park your alt outside the instance incase something drops that nobody in the group needs.

I would really like to see some raid items flagged as "Attuneable" IE tradeable.

On my server, our 70-79 channel is so spammed with "WTS Loot RIghts to Itemx" it's become an auction channel. If more gear became tradeable that would be great!

Always followed by the 20 minute argument "You can't sell a NO TRADE item". I've pretty much stopped following the 70 channel any more.

Edited to un-mangle the quote

As some one who has played since launch I have to say that getting rid of notrade modifiers will be the worst thing that can be done.

Originaly there was VERY little in the way of attunable gear and everyone was running around in hand-me-down master craft and better gear, and had no clue how hard it was to get, much less how to get it.

The game economy was close to becoming a horrific joke and tradeskill work just about dried up completly and farmers were making a killing

No, do not get rid of notrade, we have been down that road once.

Not advocating its complete removal, but rather the designation being scaled back a bit, rather than being on damn near every gear drop from Kunark on up. People can still sell the gear, they just sell the loot rights instead of greed rolling then putting it on the broker. By having it on nearly every gear drop, all it is accomplishing is that we can't hold on to gear that drops for our alts. I have a neat class hood helmet for my defiler when my defiler finally gets past 60. After that..*shrug*..nothing. Nothing is droppable anymore.

The last major gear item I bought for my monk was at lvl 70, a fabled chest piece. I'm still using that piece of armour as I've yet to find a better piece even at lvl 80. There's nothing being sold at that level, only treasured vendor trash (which drops frequently, heck even several legendary items I've had drop for me at lvl 80 are about as good as vendor trash).

I once almost won the bid for a monk chest drop, but alas not enough funds at that time.

My shoulder item is also still a lvl 70 item, no luck there either.

I suppose I should just start grouping more for the higher lvl instances, that should fix that problem.

I'm more puzzled that I just can't seem to find an improvement for my lvl 55 charms.

The difference back then, was that there was no such thing as "Attuneable". That is the point of distinction here.

It's obvious that if you can wear gear, then trade it after you are done with it, is bad. But Attuneable is the way to go. This way the market would pick up, people could once again place heroic and raid drops on the broker, and people with a lot of money might actually have some place to spend it. Attuneable makes an item NO TRADE after you attune it.... so leave that in. The point that I'd like to see, is the default NO TRADE text removed. Let me loot it and have the option to sell it before it gets attuned.

It all feeds into the same thing

If you make the high level end game gear more easily avalable then you remove the reason to play the game.

Would you really want to spend days trying to get your hands on a choice item when you could hit up a plat seller then buy it off the broker in a 30 minutes or less?

For far to many it would be, "Heck no, I want it now!"

Do not try to tell me I am undersetimating my fellow players, gold selling would not be the problem it is in MMO's if only a small fraction of people did it.
