I've been in groups where HO were activated. The only thing that bothers me is that I'm still confused as to what they do. I've read up on them through Allakhazam, but it still confuzzles me. I suppose that's the biggest reason why I don't use them myself.

Different HOs do different things. Some are single or group buffs, some are DDs, some are group bonuses. I use them all the time. If nothing else they are free damage. For example as a fighter I can start a HO then fire off a direct damage spell (which I likely would've done anyway), followed by a taunt (which again, I would've done anyway) and that completes an individual HO which can result in either more DD or an armor buff. if other classes get in the mix and join in the HO, thats fine too. The more the merrier.

I notice over time I have less and less people join in the HOs that I kick off. Still do them though. On all my toons.

TTH has a decent explanation of how they work as well as a list of all the possible HO combos you can string together.

Exctly my point. EQ2 started out as a game that offered a challenge.

If someone wanted a game that was easy, they went elsewhere.

IMHO, that is the way it still should be. Instead of people whining that the game is too hard, people here LIKED it that way.

As smart as that sounds, you have to look at it from a financial point of view. Back in the old EQLive days, yeah there wasn't much of a market out there for mmos like there is today. So with new mmos coming out claiming to be the next WoW, you're going to see sacs in games to make them more noob friendly. Hell EQLive tried that too, but to a smalll extent. Games will do anything they can to bring in new subs even if that means a small decline in active subs who like the game as it is.

I agree, in theory, to this. But, I still liked the game the old way.

Now, just a thought, but rather than nerfing the gameplay, Why not actually advertise like WoW does? When was the last ad you've seen for EQ2? I dont think I've EVER seen one, and definitely have never seen a TV spot...

When was the last time you saw and ad for ANY mmo other than wow on tv?
Aside from that Wizards game aimed at kids I haven't seen any. Most MMO's cant afford TV time, the only reason the wizards game I mentioned gets air time is because its owned by a TV network if I remember correctly.

Even so, I have yet to see ANY advertisements for EQ2. And that includes the gaming mag that I got a free subscription to a while ago. (Think it was called PC Gamer...)

Hell, I've never even seen it in the ad section of ANY web site, and that's dirt cheap!

I know what else needs to be changed!

They need to stop teasing us all and actually put crossbows in the game as a usable weapon, not just as artwork.

Like in this screen shot from east freeport.
