Spent the entire weekend harvesting, questing & leveling in T-Steppes and it gave me a warm fuzzy feeling when I reached the open plains area near the "Ruins Of Karana" where the Highland Lions frolic.

I can remember back to EQ live when I would camp those same Highland Lions for the HQ pelts used to make the beautiful quiver that was so highly sought after by rangers. Back in the day I made a fortune from the sale of those quivers, month in and month out (providing of course that the RNG was kind and I was able to get the pelts to drop!).

Good times!

I was playing the other day, and went to Unrest with some friends. I had the awfulest urge to break out my old EQ macro. Ya know...

"Train to zone. Lead, follow, or get the HELL outta the way!" :)

I remember making App II, III, and IV spells just to see what my pet would look like before finally but the Adept or A3. Dunno when they took out App IIs and IIIs but that's how it was when I played years ago.

I have Sparkling/Glowing/Scintillating etc Flowers sitting in my bank.

I basically only remember the sheer frustration of spending days to get one of those pelts :D

I got a similar feeling of nostalgia in the Thundering Steppes when I was ducking griffons with my baby bruiser. That took me back to my early days in EQ in the Commonlands, hunting there with my paladin and keeping an eye on the sky to avoid the griffin there.

A shame they took him out of the revamped zone, although last time I played EQ, no one was there though.

Wow, yes I remember camping highland lions. Isn't it amazing what we now look fondly back upon from EQI? Even getting killed in East Commonlands tunnel because 'somebody' just had to train Sgt. Slate through to see the ensuing chaos he would then cause to any player of evil alignment...

Revenge my friends was indeed sweet however if you were a Necromancer or a Mage and killed him several times over for that first offense.

I could never figure out why all the high elves, and humans hated me..... Perhaps because of my evil dark elf penchant for killing their guards for money? muahaha!

I remember that when you killed a humaniod mob, you were going to atleast get a body drop of the weapon you saw it using. You could then sell that weapon to any crafter so they could break it down and use it for ore!

I actually leveled some skill just so i could break down some weapons so i could stack the ore, and sell it in clumps

The Griffons in EC always gave me the creeps. Maybe it was because I was running around playing a teen toon and they were what... like level 35? One time, I spent an hour or so with my ranger, sitting on a little hillside all camo-ed up and invisible, just watching them path and looking for a safe spot that I could pull to. I finally realized there was no safe place... nowhere I could hunt around there that they didn't go. It was disappointing but it encouraged me to keep my eyes up and my ears open (Gawd, I can still hear the beat of their wings!)

OH that named griff was the BANE of many a group back then.

Some people even swore it was out to get them because they always ran into it atleast once a day.

Only to escape barely to the other side where Sergeant Slate was waiting to kill you because someone had just trained him there from the other way....

I remember when that grif used to need a full group to kill it ;/

Same with Paddlefoot the beaver in Nek Forest, used to be triple up.

The EC griff is what introduced me to the wonderful world of mobs clipping through textures. Early EQ career. Saw the griff. Ran into one of the little huts that dotted EC. Hunkered down and waitied thinking it either couldn't see me, or couldn't fit through the door if it did. So of course I am in for a surprise when Sparky the Wonder Griffin magically phases through the roof right over my head and kills me very rapidly.
