thru trial and experience i have concluded that the best character type for questing and quick advancement is the shadowknight. it possesses such great knockdowns, recoveries, group attacks and exceptional magic. is there a character you prefer and why?the more responses, the merrier!

I think it's more about the player than the class. But there's no doubt that DPS really seems to help!

There really is no "best" class in this game. It all depends on how well your play style meshes with the design of the class you choose.

I'm glad you get along well with SK but if I were to play one I'd have a terrible time! It's just that my playstyle doesn't mesh well with the strengths and weaknesses of a hybrid plate tank.

I have the most fun playing druids and rangers (I've been playing them both since EQ1). And I will no doubt continue rolling them up!

I enjoy my Brigand immensely. But, it really depends on the play style. I love my ranger and fury when I'm PvP'n. My brigand for questing and harvesting. All the other toons I have have never seen the sunlight and are chained to tradeskill stations in the Guild Hall. XD

Monk, no contest :D

All kidding aside, I recently started a bruiser (I already have an 80 Monk to be honest so the fighting style is very familier to me, if sligthly more aggressive) and I just fly through my levels. I can't even finish most of my quests before they are greyed out, it's really fast.

But I imagine that most players have that particular problem, it's fast and fairly easy (the first 30 or so levels anyway) for all classes I'ld say.

Shadowknights are one of those classes that if you set it up correctly with the right gear, AA, items, ect they can be very effective in any given situation.

That adaptability is what makes them a good class to choose as a solo'er.

They possess a good deal of DPS [more so now than in the past, thank you SoE for some loven], the plate armor adds to the survivability of the charecter, and the multitidue of ways you have to self heal threw life taps, more so when you add in AA abilities, also improves survivability.

The adaptability is also what makes them good in a group or raid, more so since the last changes that were made to them.

Now if I can just find a way to get people to stop believing I can heal them like a paladin.......

When I started playing my Fury I thought I had found the best class ever. By the time I got to level 79 with her, I was fully bored. So just for fun I started a warden, thought it might be cool to see how the other druid type measured up. And boy did it ever! The increase to Spirit of Wolf alone made it all worth it. But I also discovered the heals are better than the fury heals. On the downside the nukes are not as good. I have dabbled in other alts, I have a 50+ brigand, illusionist, a few others in the 30s range, but in my opinion none of them really compare to my warden. The best character type indeed is all a matter of personal opinion :) You mentioned shadowknight, which you may play well and really enjoy, but trust me when I say there are others that can't play them very effectively at all, me included. My best approach to finding the best character for you is what you seem to have done, try them maybe up to 25 or so, until you find the one that really seems to click. It will certainly make the playing experience much more enjoyable.

I always enjoyed playing my Mystic. She's level 69 now. I also have a Fury, but in my opinion.. nothing compares to playing my Mystic. I really really enjoy the pet doggie and the wards we get. :P

Personally I like the monk, very strong class that can easily solo. And with Feign Death, Invis and Tsunami you can pretty much go anywhere you need to go.

Bruiser is OBVIOUSLY the best class in the game.

Who else will smash down your wall, kick you in the teeth, and then serve your family Kool Aid?

Honestly i think the two best classes are both the Brigand and the Monk.

I loved my fury up until TSO came out. Now she's constantly out of power etc. So I stopped playing her. I Have a Troub which I really don't care much for. My bruiser meh. I have been leveling a Templar and I absolutely love playing her. So I would have to say Templar in my opinion.

Its been said many times over, the best charecter type is one that you enjoy playing.

Now your enjoyment of it may change, lead to other classes that you enjoy but it is still the same thing.

Play what you enjoy.

Despite all the stuff in the past with SK's I have ALWAYS loved playing my SK, sure it was a pain when leveling was so slow cause im primaraly a soloer and we really didnt have that much power, but I loved the whole idea of it. I wanted to get good at the class, develop skills that would over come the shortages, then they introduced tinkering and it really helped hehe

Now, they are awsome in my opinion

I like my wizard but only for beating up monsters, I like being able to beat up name monsters on my own and get treasure on my own, the other ones I think need you to be in groups to work them right?

But I am not sure I have not played long.

All classes can solo very easily. None of them is a group-only class.

My zerker can stand there in the face of the enemy without flinching and dish out 10 shades of pain
My SK can spread disease, steal health and devistate a whole group at the same time
My defiler can wave his hands, then stride into battle without getting a scratch on him

Every class is good. You will always find a player that will say it is the 'best' class.
The 'BEST' class is the one you enjoy playing at that moment

Hope you still feel the same way when the SKs get nerfed. I play a Fury and love it. I can DPS and heal myself. I soloed a ton of content. But from what I see from my guildies, I have to agree the Monk/Brusier is a very capable character. If I didn't hate ALTs so much, I'd roll a Monk and try it out but alas.... no alt that I have ever created has lived past level 12.

The cleric classes arent that good for soloing are they? I've never actually played one but from what i've heared they arent the best for it.

The clerics aren't bad soloers... they're just kinda s... l... o... w...

A buddy of mine played a temp and I always used to kid him that the only way he could actually kill a mob solo was to settle in and wait until it died of boredom :-)

I loved playing my swashie the first time through but I've tried almost all of the classes and it may not be the best per say but I have the most fun with the monk :) Though I agree that the SK is a great class to play... if your in the mood that day :)

I actually found it kinda hard leveling my Templar past level 20 (had a fae templar). It was extremely sllllloooowwww and had to use tons and tons of heals.

It depends on the healer, some are better at soloing, but the closer to a pure healer they are, the more they are really meant for groups actually.
