Trio Advice RequestedFollow

#1 Feb 10 2009 at 2:57 PM Rating: Decent
May wife, daughter and I are planning to start a trio that we will run as a group. They are planning to run a berzerker and inquisitor, but I am having trouble deciding on a class for my DPS/utility character. I am currently tending towards either wizard or dirge. Any advice on which of these would work better with the inq/zerker pair or suggestions on a different class would be welcome.

Thanks in advance.

I run a templar with a friend who runs a zerker. As a duo we do quite well. I haven't played an Inquisitor, your results may vary. I also run a dirge on occasion and I believe that it would be a great addition because of all the group buffs.

Good Luck.

Interesting set up. The zerker will give the trio higher than average DPS (because they are a hybrid tank/DPS class) and the dirge would give it lower than average DPS (because the bards are the lowest DPS classes among the scouts). Between the two you'd be about back to average with the debuffs from the bard as a bonus.

I'd recommend a ranger or assassin in the DPS role but a wizzy would work fine. You might also consider a pet class like a conji or necro.

Whatever you decide, come back and let us know how it works out...

Stuge - in the future, please try to be less verbose when posting. With a response like yours, it's always hard to separate the wheat from the chaff... :)

'k.

:D

Seriously though, the coercer is tops for that trio. Their damage output was beefed not long ago to be more than respectable. With some of the crazy pet tricks they can pull your other toons can go on autopilot in some cases. Your power will stay high giving you less downtime between fights. On top of that the AA you'll pull down will make mobs drop faster and your Inq heal better. On top of it all, when the s does hit the fan, there's no better class to lock it all down and save you since you have no evac'ing class.

Thanks to all for the advice. After doing some research I've decided to follow Stugein's suggestion and make a Coercer.

I'll disagree on dirge being lowest on the scout DPS. I'm easily parsing 6-7k a fight on raid trash mobs (granted Im raid geared) and can easily hit top 10 on parsing, if not top 5. I'd have to say lowest would actually be troub from what I have noticed.

Dirges are also great when it comes to buffage. While their DPS might be lower than an assasin or brigand, the melee buffs and hate aggro for the tank bring a lot to the table group wide.

I'll grant you the mitigating circumstances and agree that the buffs make the class more valuable in a group setting. But technically, what I said was that bards have the lowest DPS... not that dirges were any lower than troubys. My point was that because of other utility skills, bard dps suffers a little when compared to other scouts. An assassin or ranger should always out DPS a bard... but DPS is all they do! No buffs to speak of and no really valuable secondary function to offset the fact that they do little besides dish out damage.

No disrespect was intended towards bards. Either one is a terrific class and when played well are a valuable addition to any group or raid. <y point was simply that you pay for the versatility with a little less damage output.

Balance of the group seemed like the most important aspect for this question and a Dirge certainly covers a wide range of services for a group...specifically for a group with a DPS/Tank and a plate healer.

I know not of this Coercer which Stugein suggested...so Hank
