so... this game is pretty old isnt it? But i am thinking about playing it. so i got some questions:

- what is the most fun part playing the game?
- is it easy to solo for lvling?
- is the game "dead" or are there still alot of people playing it?
- try to convince me to start playing it :)

The game is lots of fun through out. The classes are well balanced, The gameplay is smooth, the graphics are still amazing... everything about the game is fun.

The game is easy to solo all or most of the way through. I have taken a character to the current level cap and was solo most of the time. I have grouped and raided most of the content but was alone when I did most of the leveling.

The game is far from dead. The community on all servers is vibrant and the player base is energized with old and new content. The dev team really listens to the players and due to their love and attention, the game continues to improve and evolve.

In fact, I think the age of the game is one of the best things it has going for it. All the bumps are out of this road.

Try to convince you? What are you 12? It's not up to me to convince you. Do or do not... your loss if you choose not to...

ROFL! "pretty old".... EQ (the original) is having it's 10th anniversary. EQ2 just has it's 4th. It doesn't get old because they're always adding new content.

- the most fun part varies with who you ask. Just about all playstyles are supported. All are fun!
- define "easy". I do just fine, and I've been mostly solo for a couple years.
- The game isn't anywhere near dead. When you roll your first toon, try to do it during what will be your usual play time. You'll see a list of servers by population. That's how you make sure you'll have a well-populated server when you're on!

Download the trial! Get on! We recommend the Station Launcher, as it's a big download.

I've been playing a little over a week, relatively casually and am now level 25 and well into my betrayal quest. If I was familiar with the world I'd be done it as well since I am spending a lot of time exploring and finding things.

I love EQ1 but have basically done everything I wanted to in it. WoW was a novelty that wore off fast for me. I quit warhammer to try EQ2 and am quite happy with that choice.

The most impressive thing about EQ2 so far? The community. Not only has every zone I have visited (and I have accidently zoned into some higher ones) had people in it, but I have encountered helpful characters at every turn.

helpful? us? Surely you jest. :-P but, yes, we are a rather helpful bunch, and regardless of the server you join, there will be plenty of people who will help answer any questions you may have. you will get some jokers who think that a smart-alek answer is the way to go, but over all, you will get alot of helpful responses.

That will most likely have been so because the majority of people you encountered will have been adults. The game is far less populated by children than is, say, WoW. And adults, on the whole, tend to be more helpful and polite then children.

Children (and teens) are still locked in a more competitive phase where everything is personal and helping you equates (in their minds) to defeating themselves.

(This is not to say that you won't find competitive or impolite adults, simply that you will more often find competitive or impolite children.)
