Tradeskill InstanceFollow

#1 Jan 21 2009 at 6:27 PM Rating: Decent
I'm currently a level 80 carpenter and was wondering where I have to go start the tradeskill instances (the one's in the new TSO expansion)?

Who do I talk to? Thanks.

You'll first need to go to Moors of Ykesha and do the eq2 quest:Ship Out quest to get enough faction. Then you'll go to Isle of Mara.

The whole bit is laid out here: Shadow Odyssey Tradeskill Missions (EQ2 Quest Series)

Calthine...it pains me to say this but you are wrong.

You actually dont need any faction to do the TS instances (at least not the group ones). You just have to be a level 50 or higher in your craft. I'm pretty sure you dont have to do Ship Out either, I have it started but am only on chapter 1 and I've done two of the TS instances.

You do however have to go to Isle of Mara. Upstairs in the one building next to the banker, there is an npc to talk to. Make sure you click on the desk in that room, and also a book on top of that desk.

I did Ship Out first. I don't know if it was necessary, but it was fun. :D

I didn't mention the level 50 because missjackie has that requirement :) You do have to have some Far Seas Trading Company faction before the Mara folks will talk to you, and the only way I've found to do that so far is to do Ship Out. Aymee is the only Far Seas Trading Company person that will deal with you before that.

Now, there's the odd chance it's changed since I did it on Beta or Live, so I may still be wrong. But that's how it was when I did it.

Back when that adventure pack first came out I did everything I could for everyone I could find who worked for Far Seas AND on the Island of Mara!

Could it be that faction is faction and that this will be enough?

Nope. Far Seas Supply Division is different from Far Seas Trading Company. The ony Mara quest you need is the first one that introduces you to all the locals.

KK. Since the TS instances are one of the big reasons I'm coming back at all I'll make sure I do "Ship Out" right away!

Thanks!

It's a fun, not hard thing, just a little time consuming. the writeup has a shopping list, too.

Try it on a PvP server.. it can be called "fun" or an absolute nightmare depending on your perspective. XD

tah-dah: Balloon Pad

Be SURE to speak to every Balloon Pad operator at every station you hit, or you'll have to get back there the hard way.

Actually, you don't need to. I've done this quest on most of my characters and you don't NEED to talk to the balloon people. in fact, the first time I did the quest "Ship Out", it was on my 45 fury, 60 carpenter. didn't use the "teleports" that were offered except a couple of times (mainly getting to Grobb). used the balloons the entire time and never once had a problem about not speaking to the balloon pad operators prior to going to a particular pad.

What'd they do, change it again? In Beta you didn't have to, at launch you did, lol. 'Cause I forgot one at launch and had to hoof it.

well, when I did it, it was about a month or 2 after launch, so they might have changed it between launch and then. wouldn't surprise me.

I found the balloon pads and was able to go around to different stations on my 67 mystic. Never had to step food on the ground. :)

Well, the person you spoke to for the ride was a balloon pad operator :)

Regardless, glad to hear it!
