Started back up and I am bound determined to be a healer. So I made a Warden and I am up to lvl 14 now. So far it has been awful. I know as a healer I am not going to be DPS, but is it so much to ask to at least be able to land my spells on stuff? With the help of a guildie I managed to get root Adept 3, Fire Adept 3, and I took the cold Master 2 at 14. Gear wise I have lvl 10 handcrafted leather and lvl 12 mastercrafted jewelry. Not a twink by any standard but I think I have above average gear for a lvl 14. Even now against white and yellow npcs my fights look like this:

Cast Root... Resist
Heroic Opportunity
Cast Fire.... Resist
Cast Cold.... Resist
Cast Fire HIT!
Cast Cold Resist
Heroic Opportunity
Cast Fire Resist
Cast Cold HIT
Cast Fire HIT DEAD..

I actually counted out of 10 casts of root on white and yellow npcs I was resisted 6 out of 10 times. Probably 30 to 45% of my fights are looking at RESIST messages. I mean this is ridiculous I already got Adept 3 which I shouldn't even have to worry about as a newb. It takes forever to kill a mob not only because I have few DPS spells but because of resists. Is this what I should expect all the way to 80 or do I get some AP skills or upgrades later on that take care of this. I know at higher lvls I will be worrying more about heals but until then it appears I need every last scrap of DPS I can get as I haven't passed a single person my lvl yet.

Are the rest of your spells still at Apprentice I (the freebie you get). Find an upgrade - even the Apprentice II from your class trainer or an Apprentice III or IV from a crafter would be better.

Even with an AD3 root you are going up against mobs that are "older" than you when go after yellows and whites are an "even odds" crap shoot so you should expect some resists. Your results will be much better with targets that are dk blue and lower.

My warden is lvl 80 and even though I am highly experienced in the root & nuke technique I still see some resists.

Your best bet is to root then (if it holds) hit them with a nuke and a DOT and then snare them to be sure. And always keep your melee skills polished for when the root doesn't stick!

The only DPS spells I have ATM are the cold, fire and root. Root isn't really a big deal if it breaks I can keep myself healed. The stuff isn't killing me its just taking extreamely long to kill. My other spells are my heals and they are app4 or adept 1. Since I don't see much grouping going on don't see no point in getting excited about upgrading them just yet as app1 is prob enough to keep myself alive in solo situations.

Maybe the npcs are too high that I am going after but every quest I get is for at minimum white cons (alot of them are orange and red).

i know exactly how you feel , i gave up on warden in the 50's then again in the 60's but keep at it , it does get better , when you get enough aa i would ditch the spells and go with combat arts anyway, they do have a better dps imo and with crit you should do just fine , again dont give up on warden just yet
