How bigger/smaller are all the zones together compared to WoW?
How many minutes does it take to travel across the map compared in FFXI and WoW?

I cant speak for those games, since I played WoW for a full 2 hours before I deleted it.
There are many zones which are rather large, they do have griffon (or sokokar) stations to get from point A to point B. As for going from zone to zone...there are many bells on docks in certain zones that instantly take you to the next zone. Even larger cities that are made of more then one zone are connected by bells. So travel is fairly quick.

In my opinion, if you laid all the maps of all the different zones out side by side in to one large map, EQ2's overall map size would be about 2x to 3x as large as WoW's. Now keep in mind, I haven't logged in to WoW in a couple of years so they may have added many more land masses since then. On the other hand, so has EQ2.
As for FFXI.. no clue. I have only played it briefly here and there to hook up with friends that play during live events.

It's about the same to be honest, the difference if any is number of expansions rather than zone size.
WoW has the benefit of player owned flying mounts to make life easier.
EQ2 has the benefit of more expansions so more zones.

As of right now EQ2 is prob bigger since SOE loves to churn the expansions out. I like the way WOW zones are connected alot better though. Still waiting for the flying mounts in eq2 and prob won't happen the way the zones are still ZONES instead of one giant world like WOW has.
