After seeking some advice and trying other games I'm downloading the 14 day trial of everquest 2. It seems I have to wait 10 hours for it to download but its coming!

Before I start and make a character I wanted to seek some advice from current players. So any advice welcome on the following questions would be very welcome.

* I am European and so wish to play in a lively environment some evenings. Which servers should I be heading for or avoiding?
* I love healing but when I tried WOW I played a shamen like character with a large cat (which was fun!). Is there a clerical class that can also solo?
* Any hints or tips on how to make subsistence money in the early levels would be appreciated. When I played WOW I had more than enough money to pay for spells and equipment, but I admit that was only as I had a friend who told me what to keep from my hunts to sell to high ends players. Tips welcome!
* Tradeskills. I made money in WOW by making items to sell and I do not mind being exclusive. Is there a tradeskill that is a PITA but in high demand that I could make money from if I put in some effort?

It's best to stick to the EU English servers if you really plan on only playing on Euro times. I'm on Splitpaw myself, not a bad server. (although I've only recently started again, been a while)

Just about every class can solo, pretty much like in WoW. You won't be able to do all quests and explore all the instances and zones at the appropriate level solo though, a bit more than in WoW too. Most however can be done if you just wait a couple of levels (either till all the mobs are grey and hence won't attack, or just till they're green). I'm not familiar with healing classes but for instance I know of a warden who solos a lot and does it well.

Early levels, you won't need as much money as later on. Mostly because you'll have quests giving you fairly decent armour and weapons, and also because you don't need to upgrade the spells you automatically get. (about all spells are given till lvl 50, at the lowest lvl though APP1. You can buy a small upgrade from npc's although that's not worth it, most are player sold, adept 1 and master 1 are dropped from mobs and adept III and high masters are crafted.) You level rather swiftly so there's no need to spend a lot of money on spells you don't use all that often and will see replaced swiftly too. Some spells are very handy and should be bought at a better (adept 1 at least) grade.

Unfortunately, due to adding some tradeskills, lower lvl spells are sought after and rather expensive for new players. That's why it's important to just focus on the ones you really need.

Money income at lower levels: drops (not so much though, most treasured items just do not sell for much apart from adept 1 spells, if you group and take down tougher mobs and named, you could get lucky and get a master 1 version of a spell or legendary items), shinies and quests.

Shinies are collectible items that start collection quests. Or rather are part of them. When running around, you will notice small shining objects on the ground which you can pick up. Most at a lower level don't sell for much, but there are some that are good for money.

Harvesting can be good too, although the normal harvests don't sell for all that much, from time to time you can get a rare harvest item too.

As always though, at lower levels those don't really sell for all that much, but it's something.

Thank you for the advice. I now have a lovely level 8 warden on splitpaw by the name of Leahuella.

I see what you mean, with so many quests I've been swamped by equipment and the spells are given automatically (I presume adept ones are more powerful - I dropped one of those).

I'll keep going and see if I like the game Smiley: smile

Yep, the order is:

Apprentice 1 (automatically given up to lvl 49 or 50)
Apprentice 2 (sold by npc's)
Apprentice 3 (crafted by players)
Adept 1 (dropped by mobs, sold by players. And you'll find that you will always find other classess' spells, never your own)
Adept 2 (not sure really, don't think this exists)
Adept 3 (player crafted, at times you'll have to settle for this if the master version is not sold or just at an insane price and you really want a boost for the spell)
Master 1 (dropped by mobs, sold by players. Some are insanely priced, others are fair, I don't think I bought any before lvl 50)
Master 3 (special ones if I'm not mistaken, from world events or live events?)

One or two spells are not automatically given at even below lvl 50. As a monk, I got the spell Devastating Fists, I had to follow a questline in an adventure pack before I could buy this spell. (for those wanting to play a monk, definitely do this, this spell is truly good)
I'm not sure however if Wardens also have spells like this.

Anyway, some spells need to be as good as you can get/afford. A lot don't, not at lower lvls anyway.

If you like the game and you're looking for a guild on splitpaw, you can try Epic. I'm in it too, but I'm playing rather irregularly at the moment though, not sure if you'll find me online soon.
