Do Shadowknights get mounts automatically? Is that at level 20 or 40? Thanks.
At level 20 you can purchase the summon mount spell from any SK trainer. It's cheap..like 20 or 50 silver or something like that. It's only a 10% run increase, but better than nothing until you can afford an upgrade later down the road.
Yeah...its lacking run speed, but its decent still...i heard it was 22% or something when the game first came out...but people went whining to SOE saying that it was unfair that they got a practically free mount with that speed :P they didnt have a problem with them on eq1...heh as far as i know

I think the difference was that in EQ1 the horse didn't come until higher level and a non-trivial amount of AA invested. The EQ2 version comes at a low level and has /some/ benefit, whereas most class fun spells had no practical use other than being..well, fun. I think the other classes were just jealous. :)
If being mounted/seated in this game gave you faster ooc regen like in EQ1 I guess I would see the problem in this...but meh I dont really care. If you want to talk about useless run speed buffs though...
At level 1 Arasai/Faye get a "Unseelie Form" that they can change into that adds 5% to their run speeds, but you cant attack, harvest, or even cast invis while in this form. That is a useless spell. Other then being a floaty fairy wisp.

So the starter mount goes at 10 speed. Do you get class upgrades or have to buy horses like everybody else after the starter 10s mount?

The latter. The 10% horse at 20 is the only "freebie" horse crusaders get.
