Been away for some yearsFollow

#1 Aug 09 2008 at 1:47 PM Rating: Decent
I have been away from this game for so long. At that time it was level 60 cap i think.
So now i wanne come back to the game, since i miss it alot.
Been trying alot of other games but nothing felt like this did.
So my thoughts was what kind of char you guys suggest.
I am not much of a fighter type and i guess i will do this game most of the time alone, since i dont know any other EQ2 players.
Maybe stupid question you get from me but i was just curious to see if i could get some suggestions from you who been playing this for some time.

The only thing i have at home is EverQuest2 and i am downloading it right now.
Do i need to buy all new games or would it be ok to start with this?
Can i buy the other upgrades online on the net, or do i need to go to a store.
I live in Sweden and i hope you understand my English.
Thanks for taking some of your time.

Tell us about your computer. For example, are you running Vista? If so, you need to run EQ2 as an administrator.

Thanks for your ansver.
I run the latest XP version, so it looks like vista and i guess that could be the problem.
My computer knowledge isnt the best, so how do i change so can run EQ2 as an administrator.
And i hope you understand what i mean.

I'm confused - I've never seen an XP version that looks like Vista. If you have Vista, right-click on the EQ2 icon and choose "run as administrator".

Otherwise, we need to know more about your computer, like what kind of video card you have and how much memory you have.

When i try to "run as administrator". I need to click in a password. But not sure where i can find that password and without that i cant do it:(

I have been away like 3 years from EQ2, but i have run it on this computer before.
But at that time i didnt have this Windows.
So maybe it is the Vista problem you talk about.

Sorry for all those stupid questions, but never had this prob. before with a game.

I have the first one that came out. The one that is called Everquest II.

Hope for help, so i can get them all and be prepared to start the game.

You need one package: Rise of Kunark. That has everything.

All races can be all classes - within their alignment!

It's okay to forget :) Especially since this game has grown a lot since launch! Start over like it's an all new game :)

Maybe i am just lazy, but cant find it if there are many different servers like: PVE, RP, since i am not much for PVP servers.
I promise this will be my last question.

There are different server types. There are PVP standard and RP-PVP, 2 RP preferred PVE, and lots of standard PVE.

The server will be tagged with it's ruleset when you make your character so you can pick one that you like.

Hm me again:

Is there any speciall UI you suggest that i shall download, så it is more easy for the game?
Hm if you understand what i mean.

And i also have a few thoughts about what kind of class i will choose.
I was thinking of a ranger cause i think i will play alot solo. Since most of you are veterans and maybe not that fun to play with someone who beginn.
Is my thoughts good, about ranger for a solo class?, untill i start to learn more people on a server?

Myself and many people use ProfitUI Reborn, which is a nice Interface with all of the information you could ever possibly need built-in. You may find it a bit, "busy" at first, but once you get everything setup to your liking I think it's very functional. Really though, for a beginner the default UI will have everything you need.

As for ranger opinions..someone else probably needs to come in to answer that. I'm honestly not familiar with how scouts play. I have an assassin, but it's low level and I rarely play it.

I second the ProfitUI feature. I actually just installed it earlier today because many of my guildies suggested it, and if I had any questions they would be right there to ask. Took a bit to set up at first, because I still dont know all the shortcuts for things such as my pet window, and I always forget how to resize my hotbars.

THIS link is a very nice detailed guide on how to set up ProfitUI and get you started. WB to EQ2!

I dont understand your question. You should be able to use your existing account, there wouldnt be a need to start a new one unless you wanted to get that extra 30 days free that comes with a new account. (I would NOT recommend this however, as you will have many reward items to be claimed on your original account).

If you mean where do you register the expansion that you bought, that depends on if you bought the Digital Download (In that case you wouldnt need to register, it will do it for you), or if you bought the Rise of Kunark box set (the registration code is in the box). If you bought the RoK box then when your patcher has finished the download, there will be a button labeled "Register Expansion" and simply click that, and enter the code.
