If I want to play EQII do I have to erase the trial I downloaded from my computer and buy the $30 game from the store?

Yes!

You should be able to start a subscription from either install.

The trial installation IS the full game download. You are just locked out of certain zones until you subscribe.

But do I still have to buy the store bought game? Someone told me:

You're going to have to buy the box (or download). Pay for a key, at any rate.
- answere from another post where I asked the question in more detail.

Someone else told me this, which has me even more confused.

Re the game, you could buy it in a store, you can also get an invite from an existing player and get an extended trial which gives you all of the software free once you subscribe (plus some bonus items like a free non-combat pet) - Living Legacy it is called - one of the more experienced players here may be able to help with that, or if you PM me and give me an email address I may be able to send you an invitation - though you might have to set up a new account to access it.

MY QUESTION IS: Do I have to buy the $30 game at the store or not?

Please, ty.

To gain access to the game's content outside of the trial, yes, you do need to acquire a CD Key from either Sony, Direct2Drive, or buying a copy of the game in a store.

Once you've acquired said code, you can enter it into your account, and all the content that you previously did not have access to is now unlocked.

Direct2Drive has it here for $39.99, which includes the base game, all expansion packs and all adventure packs.

And Sony has a link on this page to their own online store.

I did not have to pay the $30. I did pay for an around $15 prepaid card.

Here is another forum thread that I made on this subject if it's of interrest to you (click sentence to link). For some reason this link makes my toolbar vanish, if it does it to you too just mouse up to the top of the page and your toolbar will appear again. It does not affect your computer settings. Only this page-link will have an invisible toolbar.
