RoK Box install issuesFollow

I just got the new pc today, so of course the first and only thing I care about installing is the RoK discs I bought last week. Then I get a headache.

"lp_launch.exe has had an error occur and will terminate"

So I run through all the optional downloads, restart the pc even. I went into c:/programs/sony/launch and removed the lp_launch.exe and went to the download page online and reinstall. That seemed to fix that error. However...when the updater finishes, I still cant go any further. No "Play" button...my characters dont even show up on the launch pad.

I really dont want to delete everything and start the trial download, but I may have to if I cant find anyway to fix this.

Anyone have a similar issue?

Specs:

OS = Vista
Vid = ATI Radeon 2400 128mb
Ram = 3gb

Brand new pc, just took it of the box an hour ago. Checked the updates and all are the most recent. Glad I still have it installed on the laptop, so if I have to I can log in and ask the guildies that are on vista, but that means I would have to get up and go get it.

Ok...not sure if this is going to work, but its already working better.

I had right clicked eq.exe, went to properties, run as admin. Guildy said that there is an option in the right click menu itself to run as admin, so I did it that way, and the living legacy banner popped up and I can see my characters on the launchpad now.

It still has about 1 hour of updates to do so there still may be another issue that pops up. Microsoft is notorious for that. I will keep you posted with any updates/solutions as they arise.

Hopefully this gives new/existing players with the same issues some ways to resolve this issue if it happens to them.

Your guildie gave you the #1 fix for running EQII in Vista, so once you get past the patches you should be good to go!

Sorry I was eating..yeah that's a common problem. Even if you install the client as admin you need to do the 'Run as Admin' every time.

As you may have guessed since I havent replied in hours...it works fine. :)

Even on Extreme Performance it looks better then on the laptop. I've been running around TD on an alt on Balanced/High Quality with no issues at all. I am extremely happy with this game now. I never new my spells were shiny!
