Question about current game type of EQ2Follow

I have been gone from EQ2 for a loooong time. I am looking for a new MMO to play, and was considering coming back to EQ2. One question I have is what is the "game type" of EQ2 these days? I have heard it has had many overhauls since I was gone.

What I mean by "game type", is it:

A. A Traditional MMO, where your main source of xp comes from getting in a party with other players, finding a camp and choosing a puller to bring the mobs back to your camp. These types of games generally have quests, and sometimes the quests give xp, but it is usually too small an xp reward or there are just not enough of them to be your primary xp source.

or...

B. A Quest-based MMO, where your main source of xp comes from collecting many quests (mostly one-time), and completing them one after another to gain xp. Games like this are usually solo-centric, but at the very least will allow the player to solo at almost all levels. These games generally give small amounts of xp for kills, so players rarely grind mobs to level.

I ask because when I first played EQ2 (at launch), it seemed like a Traditional MMO, but then it started getting updates and seemed to be putting more emphasis on questing to gain xp.

I am actually looking for more the Traditional MMO experience. I kind of got tired of Quest-based MMOs, like WoW and LotRO. While there is nothing wrong with that type of game, and it is usually more casual friendly, I am really looking for the social experience of MMOs I came to love from some of the earlier, pre-WoW games.

Any insight would be very appreciated.

EQII is more quest than "grind". Especially in your 70's.
