How well will this laptop run EQ2? (copy and pasted from the specs page)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Processor (CPU: INTEL® Pentium® DualCore T2370 (1.73GHz) 533MHz FSB/1MB Cache

Memory (RAM: 2GB CORSAIR DDR2 667MHz - LIFETIME WARRANTY! (2x1GB)

Operating System: Genuine Windows XP™ Home + SP3, CD & Licence (£49)

Memory - Hard Disk: 160GB SERIAL ATA II HARD DRIVE WITH 8MB CACHE (5,400rpm)

CD/DVD Drive: 8x DVD±R/RW/Dual Layer (+ 24x CD-RW)

Graphics Card: 512MB GEFORCE 8600GT + D-SUB + TV-OUT

Sound Card: Realtek ALC268 2 Channel High Definition Audio + MIC IN/Phones Out

Modem & Mobile Broadband: INTEGRATED 56KBPS V92 MODEM

Network Facilities: Onboard Gigabit LAN & WIRELESS 802.11G NETWORK CARD
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If anyone could tell me what I might have problems with or what might slow EQ2 down, that would be great :D

Second Question: Is there any sign of EQ2 shutting down in the near future?

Oh, a third question: £562 inc VAT and Delivery for this laptop. Is that a fair price?

I'm not a computer expert, but that system is comparable with my desktop, which runs EQII just fine. That's about $1100 US, which is about what I paid too.

And no, EQII isn't going anywhere in the foreseeable future :)

Thanks for the reply :D
Do you know if there are any sort of, extra things to look out for when running EQ2 on a laptop as opposed to a desktop?

I don't. My laptop throws up if I even put the EQII box hear it, lol.

I can run on my ancient HP6000 which has an ATI with 128 vid ram and only 1.5 gig regular ram. All the bells and whistle graphics are either off or low and I still can enjoy the heck out of the game. I wouldn't raid with it, mind you, as I would definitely lag out LOL.

Er, I do run XP 64 on the laptop and that may make a difference.

That laptop will run EQ2 just fine on medium settings.

Go "Balanced" on that computer and turn stuff off like shadows, etc. until you find your "sweet spot".

By all means, don't get upset if you can't play at better than Balanced on that computer. It isn't that bad. Still aesthetically pleasing.

As mentioned, raiding is completely out of the question. Too many other player's gear, spells, etc are rendering.

Computers are cheap. You can go home from Best Buy with a $599 computer and play EQ2 at High Quality these days. Keep in mind the future though. While it might be playable today, next expansion might not be so enjoyable if they increase the minimum requirements.

A nice little site to check your system with games.
