Little help?Follow

I've had this wierd error for the past.. almost week now, where when I start the game, it crashes before char select, gives me a "cannot verify <pathname> application cache" and shuts down.

Attempting to install the game via the new station launcher or just run it there, hangs up when patching saying that it cannot verify appcache.vpk

running the game with the normal launcher will let me run the game, but it downloads this appcache.vpk file every time, regardless of whether or not i've touched it.

Now i've done various things, down to reinstalling windows all together ((Was about time for it, anyhow)), to no avail, and support is taking me in circles, having me reinstall drivers ((what part of "just reinstalled windows" don't they understand, kind of means i've done all that anyhow)), or deleting random completely unrelated files ((.. not sure what my .ini files have to do with ANYTHING, seeing as i've deleted the game all together, and tried installing with the new station launcher, and gotten the error while downloading it.))

but of course, i'm apparently unintelligent enough to not be able to advise them on where the problem may be, as they're ignoring me telling them that it's the appcache.vpk file.

Now: TLDR version; I'm positive the appcache.vpk file is the source of the problem, think the patch server it's connecting me to got a bad version last time they did server maintenance, but the checksum file it's checking against is correct -- thus why it downloads it every time, checks the checksum and sees the old file is wrong.. then redownloads it -- also why the new launcher fails, downloads it, checks it, see's it's wrong, but has nowhere else to get it from.

THEREFORE: I was curious if someone with a WORKING install of the game, could upload this appcache.vpk file to a filesharing site, as i'm sure it will work just fine if I drop it in and attempt to run the game.

Thanks in advance

Actually, if you haven't already I'd completely delete the offending file and do a full file scan from the launchpad and have it repatch it.

I had a similar issue once, kept repatching bad vpks. I ended up deleting the entire "paks" directory and letting it repatch from scratch and it fixed.

Try that, if it doesn't work and your e-mail will handle a 25,000kb file, pm me and I'll e-mail it to you.

I laughed.

But yeah, deleting the single file and repatching should do the trick. I just installed (from the site) on both my computers this past weekend and no problem...well none that was related to the patcher. Hence I why I had to install it on another computer (outdated video card's dont like EQ2).
