Character ModelsFollow

So, I've been away from EQII for a while now and decided to come back with the recent promotion. Yesterday, while I was messing around with my options/settings in game, I found the option to change the character models of all of the classes. I did it, and the characters look really cool. When did they implement this change? Do a lot of people use the new character models or do they stick with the old? I set my alternate appearance regardless for other characters. I think it's a nice change to come back to.

well, Sony Gamma studios (SOGA) created the alternate models (I think) about a year and a half to 2 years ago (pretty sure closer to 2 years). personally, I've got alot of my characters set up to be best viewed by the alternate models, and a couple others set up to be viewed by the original.

now, it should be noted that SOE is working on a skeletal revamp (absolutely no ETA, it is nothing more than a work in progress right now) that will make it so that the overlays for the alternate models, the original models, and all the armor and such will scale better regardless of race. this way they don't have to render the same armor piece a half dozen or more times per piece. This will also allow the alternate models to fit better (i.e. the alternate Erudite form has the first person set at the sterno-clavical joint (where the shoulder meets the sternum or center chest bone, for those who are not keen on human anatomy), because the alternate model is so much taller from the original. really a pain.), as well as preventing clipping of the armor when different races wear the armor and/or move in their armor.
